Article Title: Upgrade and install Ubuntu8.10 ). Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.

Description: I will not prepare more for upgrading and installing Ubuntu 8.10. The main reason is that Ubuntu 8.04 on my own machine has already been upgraded to 8.10. I am also lazy to install another Ubuntu 8.04 for testing. The official Ubuntu website already provides a good upgrade guide, So I simply translated it for your reference. However, the failure rate of upgrading and installing is usually high, so I rarely choose to upgrade directly. In any case, in order to maintain the integrity of the entire tutorial, I reprinted a little bit of content to fill it up. =. = [I have not translated any non-Ubuntu content in the original article .]

This document provides instructions and precautions for upgrading Ubuntu October 30 to 8.10. For earlier versions, you must first upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.

Before upgrading

By default, Ubuntu 8.04 LTS does not provide the option to upgrade to 8.10. This is because 8.04LTS is a long-term version that supports release, while 8.10 is a conventional version. However, upgrading from 8.04 LTS to 8.10 is fully supported. Of course, it is easy to enable the upgrade.

● You can directly upgrade from Ubuntu 8.04 LTS to Ubuntu 8.10 (see the upgrade guide)
● The upgrade is not enabled by default. Because 8.10 is not a long-term support (LTS) release version.
● Before the upgrade, check that you have upgraded Ubuntu 8.04 LTS to the latest version.
● Before starting the upgrade, we recommend that you first read the release notes of Ubuntu 8.10, which contains some warning information and known issues of Ubuntu 8.10.
● If you are using a Ubuntu version earlier than Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, read the "Installation/UpgradeFromOldVersion" document to learn how to upgrade it.
