Ubuntu 12.04 gedit Opening the TXT file in the Windows partition is garbled because Ubuntu and Windows two systems are encoded differently.
Workaround 1: (recommended)
In the terminal, enter the following 2 commands in turn:
Gsettings setorg.gnome.gedit.preferences.encodings auto-detected "[' GB18030 ', ' GB2312 ', ' GBK ', ' UTF-8 ', ' BIG5 ', ' Current ', ' UTF-16 '] "
Gsettings setorg.gnome.gedit.preferences.encodings shown-in-menu "[' GB18030 ', ' GB2312 ', ' GBK ', ' UTF-8 ', ' BIG5 ', ' Current ', ' UTF-16 '] "
Workaround 2:
1, enter "Dconf-editor" in terminal. (if not installed with "sudo apt-get install dconf-tools" installation.) )
2. Expand Org/gnome/gedit/preferences/encodings
Add ' GB18030 ' to the value of auto-detected, add in Uft8, press ENTER;
Add ' GB18030 ' in front of Show-in-menu value and press ENTER.
