Ubuntu is enough.

I have enough experience with ubuntu-general Linux technology-Linux technology and application information. For more information, see the following. Ubuntu has been running for a full year since 7.04. I have invested a lot of enthusiasm, not only running ubuntu most of the time, but also working with ubuntu on a unit machine. Don't worry about Trojans and viruses. You can set the UI and font freely. Most importantly, ubuntu is free and free-I hate all individuals and organizations that force their ideas.

However, ubuntu is not mature enough. The following are some of the problems I encountered when installing ubuntu:

1. The first installation of 7.04, ubuntu is read-only to ntfs, but does not support fat32 long file names, so all my e: disk directories and files are renamed to 000, 001, 002 ...... The suffix is missing. I can only use the filecommand to find the callback .txt/. jpg. The loss is huge, but the enthusiasm for opposing hegemony is overwhelmed by this unhappiness. In addition, some files cannot be renamed and cannot be entered in Chinese.

2. As a matter of course, I re-installed 7.10. The problem of writing ntfs and file manager is solved, and mplayer can also play rmvb. You do not need to mount the ntfs partition every time. However, when windows 2003 was used to adjust the partition, the unit machine was broken, which caused me to re-execute the two-week project in five hours. Of course, this cannot blame ubuntu. In addition, when I upgraded the unit machine from 7.04 to 7.10, I did not follow the prompts to turn off all applications. As a result, the machine crashed during the upgrade. At that time, I was performing an assessment. Of course, this can only blame me for playing ubuntu with caution. Although the loss during initial installation can also blame myself for having not backed up, we usually do not consider that the operating system will make such a low-level error!

3. I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04LVS in the hope of solving the Chinese subtitles of mplayer, but it is invalid. I can't use mplayer because of mischanging settings, and it is useless to uninstall/reinstall mplayer. However, I don't want to reload 8.04LVS, Because ubuntu was initially installed mainly because some people advocate that linux does not have to be reinstalled for decades. I didn't even hear anything about cohabiting linux buddies. He said that if you often do it, linux will easily crash, but it must be reinstalled; however, linux installation is faster, and common software is available for half an hour, for windows, you still need to install ps and other software that requires you to find underground.

4. After logging in early today, the hard drive keeps flashing. I patiently tidy up the room and the machine remains very slow for a long time. So I turned on the system monitor and found that the memory occupied by scim-launcher is constantly increasing, which is already full of 95% and has written a lot of virtual memory. This happened last night. I simply killed the scim-launcher process and immediately stopped it. You cannot enter Chinese characters. However, to work, there are always better Chinese characters. The results were not completed in the morning, including the uninstall/reinstall method.

Stability, freedom, security, and free. ubuntu is not yet available. If you have to re-install windows once every six months to obtain the functions and performance that windows already has, there will be no such enthusiasm. And, most importantly, once there are any small problems, I am totally helpless. Such troubles are as annoying as virus Trojans. Although the frequency is lower, it is hard to tell.

Of course, if we only use ubuntu as a working OS and use each LVS for three years, we can still meet the requirements. After all, we had the patience to use 98 for 8 times a week. It has been unrealistic to use a machine for decades. Can we endure the aging of software and the slowness of hardware? It is said that google insists on working with open-source software. I don't know if staroffice is relatively expensive, but openoffice for linux is quite ugly.

For me, the problem with windows is that 64-bit support is poor. Currently, the mainstream configuration of the machine is 4 GB memory, and the 32-bit maximum availability is 3.25 GB. We believe that the 64-bit system will become the mainstream next year.

Of course, I am willing to work in linux, although openoffice for linux is so uugly.
