Metacity is the default window manager for GNOME desktop environments. We know that the Metacity window manager in GNOME 2.22 already has mixed effects. In other words, even if you don't need Compiz Fusion, you can use Metacity to achieve transparency, shadow, and Alt + Tab switching. For users with low requirements, it is worth trying. However, these mixed effects are not enabled by default. If you have installed GNOME 2.22 and the current video card is also supported, you can use the following method to enable the Metacity mixed effect.
Press Alt + F2 to open the "run application" dialog box. Enter gconf-editor and press enter.
Navigate to Apps> metacity> general and select compositing_manager.
