The first time to write a technical blog, take the previous experience of the VPS to try to install the Ubuntu graphical interface as the beginning of it. Linux is not much, and belongs to the kind of non-graphical interface uncomfortable novice users, still groping.
Emmm ... So, start installing the desktop.
I this VPS only 512M memory, pure test water play, originally installed the desktop when the swallowed type of blind dress, the result of failure + failure + failure ... Later found that their own so small memory of the machine to install a large desktop system files is really embarrassing it, the final success is Xfce4 desktop, this desktop has a lightweight installation files, although still stuck, it is probably a small memory problem.
Main installation process:
1, first need to get the root authority of the VPS;
2, execute the sudo apt-get update command, upgrade all kinds of software packages for the installation of desktop environment to do equipment;
3. Install Login Manager: sudo apt-get install XDm
4. Install the Desktop Environment or window Manager:
sudo apt-get install Xubuntu-desktop
Install XFCE Desktop Environment = = = = = = =
If you have enough machine memory, you can install desktop environments such as GNOME, KDE, XFCE, and so on.
5, next to install XRDP, after installing the XRDP, we can directly use the Windows system comes with the Remote Desktop tools to connect our server.
Apt-get Install XRDP
Apt-get Install Vnc4server Tightvncserver
6. After installation, execute command service XRDP restart
SUDO/ETC/INIT.D/XRDP restart
===============================
If the following appears:
* Stopping RDP Session Manager
* Starting Remote Desktop Protocol Server
Indicates that the XRDP started successfully
===============================
7. Create a new file in the root directory. xsession file. (This step I did when the installation did not I forgot ...) can skip first)
Content is: xfce4-session
8, Login Bar
With the Windows self-login interface, select the module mode, enter your login information, you can.
My VPS always drop the line, so if the xrdp normal start but still can't see the graphical desktop interface, that also want to think about is not the problem of machine drop, try several times in different time ... I did it, and then I dropped it. =
( Note:The KDE desktop environment is extremely memory-intensive, and users less than 512MB of memory recommend installing the Xfce4 desktop.) )
