Fcitx cannot be started: solution: fcitx in the terminal, start manually, or create a new fcitx startup item in the session to enable auto-startup.

Firestarter firewall failed to start:

Open the terminal and enter:

Sudo apt-get install firestarter

The configuration information of related interfaces is searched from the output information of ifconfig. However, this version of firestarter has a bug. It used to search for English strings. Now, because the output information of ifconfig has become Chinese, it may not be able to obtain some parameter information, therefore, the startup fails.

Enter:

Sudo vim/etc/firestarter. sh

Or

Sudo gedit/etc/firestarter. sh

Find a suitable place in the opened file, for example

# External network interface data

Add a line above this line of comment:

LANG = en_US

Save and exit.

In this way, the output of ifconfig is in English, and the startup script can search for the required parameters from its output information. Now it's okay to start the firewall again!

How to minimize the panel icon when Firestarter is disabled? preference-> select "minimize to tray on window close"-> Accept

How to Make Firestarter run automatically after startup, system-> preference-> session-> Start Program-> New: Name: Firestarter

Command:

Sudo firestarter -- start-hidden

Click "OK ".

Network switching between China Netcom and CERNET: The network cannot be switched because of firestarter. When switching, you must turn off firestarter and change eth0 and ppp0 settings.
