The official version of KDE 4.9 has been released (see the http://www.linuxidc.com/Linux/2012-08/67118.htm), the current Ubuntu 12.04 has been able to install the official version of KDE 4.9:
Sudo add-apt-repository ppa: kubuntu-ppa/backports
Sudo apt-get update
If you already have a KDE environment, update the system directly:
Sudo apt-get upgrade
If not, you can install KDE:
Sudo apt-get kubuntu-desktop
Note: This update is somewhat of a type system update and may replace many dependencies. In addition, it may take a long time (4 ~ 5 hours, not powerful)
