Ubuntu 7.04 and 7.10 share common font problems. These problems are related to Chinese characters:
1. The Chinese font is ugly.
2. When the system language is Chinese, the English font is ugly.
3. the font of the same width is not wide.
Many solutions can be found online for these problems. Basically, you need to manually modify the configuration files in/ect/fonts/. This is not correct. Those files belong to some deb packages, if you manually hack the package, the upgrade will be in vain. For example, when I upgraded from 7.04 to 7.10, all the files I modified previously were overwritten. The correct solution is to add a new configuration file instead of modifying the existing one. Now I will introduce my practice in detail:
1. The Chinese font is ugly.
The default Chinese fonts installed in Ubuntu are those donated by winding. These fonts do not fully conform to Chinese writing habits, so they are ugly. The solution is to install the wenquanyi font. The Source Text of Ubuntu is old and is not recommended for installation. We recommend that you download the latest deb package. The latest version already contains a configuration file that gives the Chinese font priority to the wenquanyi dot matrix. Only the large font and the extremely small font of the wenquanyi dot matrix can be used. It is very simple. You only need to install the deb package.
