Section Two, connecting to the database through ODBC

Dreamweaver Ultradev 4 establishes a connection to the database through a data source. Moreover, the use of data sources as a database connection is more secure, once the ASP source code leakage can also ensure the security of the database (database files should not be placed in the Web directory). How do I create a data source? Follow me, ^0^.

1. Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator panel. When you open the Control Panel in Windows 2000 and then open the Admin tool, you can see the data source (ODBC) entry, which, for windows9x, is visible directly in the control Panel.



Double-click the icon to open the manager, and then select the System DSN, where our data sources are added.



2. Add a data source. Click the Add button to start creating the data source and select the driver for the data source in the next dialog box, because we are using a database created by Microsoft Access, so select Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) as the database driver, as shown in the figure.


Click the complete button, display the following Picture dialog box, the data source name casually fill out, to simple easy to remember as the principle, here we userinfo (table name) to name, pay attention to conflict. The description does not matter, is to describe the purpose of the database. Click on the Select button to select your database file. To find the database we created in the previous section, select it, as shown in the figure.



Once determined, a data source is created successfully, as shown in the figure.
