Server Microsoft Visual Studio. Net provides two types of MSDE setup. Provided with the regular Visual Studio. Net Installer, it creates a SQL instance named Mssql$vsdotnet. Another MSDE installer is provided with the. Net Framework SDK, which creates a SQL instance named MSSQL$NETSDK.
This update is intended to be applied only to machines that have MSSQL$NETSDK instances installed. To check for MSSQL$NETSDK instances on the machine, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the \program Files\Microsoft SQL Server folder. All unique SQL instance names will appear in this folder.
Attempting to apply this update to the Mssql$vsdotnet instance will have no effect. If this \program Files\Microsoft contains no mssql$netsdk in the instances that are contained in the SQL Server folder, visit the following Microsoft Web site to obtain information about the upgrade:

Note:This update applies only to the. Net Framework SDK version 1.0 and is a complete upgrade of the currently installed Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine (MSDE) 2000 to Service Pack 3.
This update applies to users who use the. NET Framework SDK version 1.0. This hotfix installs a SQL Server Service Pack 3 that is specifically tuned for MSDE 2000.
This Service Pack provides additional security for MSDE 2000 installed through the Quick Start feature of the. NET Framework SDK. To upgrade MSDE 2000 installed by the. NET Framework SDK version 1.0, you must apply this update.
If you have installed Microsoft Visual Studio. NET, you will need to apply this hotfix in addition to the general SQL Server Service Pack 3.

Note:If you have installed the. NET Framework SDK 1.0, but the "QuickStart" sample has not been installed, the included updates will be installed successfully and the MSI and CAB files will be replaced with the new SQL Server Service Pack 3 version.

You can choose to run a compressed package or save it to your computer.
If you choose to "Run" this program from the current location, Setup will start automatically.
If you choose to "save" this program to disk, locate the
Netfxsdk_msdesp3_kb813850_lang.exeFile ("Lang" is the language identifier of the download file that you selected) and double-click the. exe file to start the Service Pack 2 installer.
Note:You can also use/q to deploy this update in quiet mode.
