At present, many laptops have their own 802.11b/g wireless network adapters, and there is no need to install a wireless network card to connect to the wireless networks. Often, however, the problem is that laptops that have not been used wirelessly or have connected to a wireless network will not be able to connect to a new wireless network. In fact, this is not a "problem", just need to use the Wireless management tool to do the appropriate operation. But this raises a new issue because almost all computers with wireless cards have two wireless management tools, one for the Windows XP operating system itself, and one for the laptop manufacturer, which is installed when the computer is shipped. So which management tool is working at the default, you can learn by following these steps:

1. "Start"-> "Control Panel"-> "Network Connection", right-click "Wireless Network Connection" and select "View available wireless Connections", as shown below:

2. If the computer is currently using the Windows Wireless Management tool by default, a list of results for the search wireless network should appear, as shown below:

If the list is empty, indicating that the notebook did not search for any wireless network, it is recommended that you: please click the "Refresh Network List" at the top right, if the result is still the following situations may be:

1. Wireless networks do not exist within the wireless reception range of the notebook;

2. The wireless AP is not started or the wireless feature is disabled. If the fact that you have wireless AP, such as WGR614, then check whether the device is turned on, whether the wireless signal light is lit, if the device is turned on, but the wireless LED is not lit, that means that the wireless function of the device has been disabled, must start wireless function can be wireless client search;

3. The wireless function of the notebook is not turned on. As with a wireless AP, if the wireless led on the notebook is not lit, description wireless function is also disabled, so even if there is a wireless network around, the notebook is also unable to search, the notebook is usually the wireless led with other features led together, very convenient to see, if you do not know how to open the wireless function of the notebook, Please contact the aftermarket Department of the notebook manufacturer;

4. Wireless AP and notebook wireless working mode problem. If the AP and notebook wireless are turned on, but the notebook still cannot search the wireless network, troubleshoot the hardware problem, it should be the two wireless operating mode does not match. If your computer is a Windows XP SP2, it is recommended that you set your computer to an adaptive state that can be connected to any available network, by default, you can right-click Wireless network connection to select Properties, go to wireless network configuration, click Advanced, and verify that the wireless mode of operation you choose is " Any available network ", as follows:

3. If you click on "View available wireless connections" The result is Windows Prompt "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection ...", then another program (a notebook vendor-supplied tool) is managing the wireless connection, as shown in the following figure:

If you intend to use the wireless management tools provided by the notebook manufacturer, but do not know which program, and do not know how to use, it is necessary to contact the aftermarket department of the notebook manufacturer. If you plan to use Windows Wireless Management program, follow these steps:

1. Right-click Wireless network connection to select Properties, if there are three tabs in the frame, "General", "Wireless network Configuration" and "advanced", as shown in the figure:
