DSL (DigitalSubscriber Line digital user Line) uses the current telephone facilities and only invests a very small amount of transformation costs. It uses unused parts of traditional telephone communication cables as high-speed data transmission services, making the communication infrastructure more fully used and coexistence of voice and data is the core foundation of DSL networks.
DSL networks are very sensitive to transmission distance. as the distance from the user to the telephone center CO) increases, the transmission quality and speed will decrease, generally, the distance from the user to the telephone center is about 5500 meters.
In order to better understand the basic principles and configuration process of DSL, a clear learning line is first formulated as follows:
N understand basic DSL Classification
N using ADSL as an example to understand the physical architecture of DSL Networks
N about using PPPOE in ADSL Networks
N understand and collect evidence of how PPPOE works
N Demonstration: The computer and CPE use PPPOE to dial up to the carrier's Aggregation Router to obtain the ADSL connection.
Understand the basic DSL Classification
Currently, there are many DSL networks, but they can be classified into two types: ADSL (asypolicric Digital Subscriber Line) Asymmetric Digital user lines and sdslw.ricdigital Subscriber Line) symmetric Digital user lines.
Asypolicric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is an Asymmetric Digital user Line that provides Asymmetric upload and download speeds. Generally, the download speed is much higher than the upload speed, it is currently the most widely deployed broadband technology in the DSL market. The distance between users and the telephone center is about 5500, providing 1.5 ~ 8 Mbit/s download rate and 16 Kbit/s-1Mbit/s upload rate. It allows simultaneous data transmission over a telephone line. Therefore, when using the ADSL Network, users can make both phone calls and access the internet. Note that in the actual ADSL application environment, we usually think that the data upload speed is much lower than the download speed, which is also a normal phenomenon.
SDSLSymmetricDigital Subscriber Line) symmetric digital user Line, which provides symmetric upload and download speed, the speed range between 128 Kbit/s-2.32Mbit/s, the most common implementation speed is 768 Kbit/s, which is not focused on SDALSDSL in this book.
