What is SAS?
SAS is a new generation of SCSI technology, and the popular Serial ATA (SATA)Hard DiskSimilarly, serial technology is used to achieve higher transmission speeds and improve internal space by shortening the connection lines. SAS is a new interface developed after the parallel SCSI interface. This interface is designed to improve the efficiency, availability, and scalability of the storage system, and is provided with Serial ATA (Serial ATA, abbreviated as SATA)Hard Disk.
SAS interface technology is backward compatible with Sata. The backplane of the SAS system can be connected to a SAS drive with dual-port and high performance, or to a high-capacity and low-cost SATA drive. Because the ports on the SAS drive look similar to those on the SATA drive, both the SAS drive and the SATA drive can exist in a storage system. Note that the SATA system is not compatible with SAS, so the SAS drive cannot be connected to the SATA backboard. Because of the compatibility of the SAS system, IT staff can use different interfacesHard DiskTo meet the capacity or efficiency requirements of various applications. Therefore, the storage system can be expanded with more elasticity, allowing storage devices to maximize investment efficiency.
SAS technology also has the advantage of simplifying the internal connection design. storage device manufacturers are currently investing a considerable amount of money to support different storage devices, including fiber channel arrays and SATA arrays, the SAS connection technology can reduce the design cost by sharing components. <SPAN lang = en-US style = "font-size: 10pt; colo
