Understanding the history of CSS development-Basic tutorial

Since the beginning of the 1990 's, HTML has been invented in various forms, with different browsers incorporating their own style language, which readers can use to adjust how the page is displayed. The first style sheet is intended for the reader, and the initial HTML version contains only a few display attributes, and the reader determines how the page should be displayed.

However, with the growth of HTML, in order to meet the designer's requirements, HTML has a lot of display functions. With the addition of these features the foreign-defined style of the language is increasingly meaningless.

1994 Hakun proposed the original CSS recommendations. Burt Posse (Bert Bos) was designing a browser called Argo, and they decided to work together to design the CSS.

There have been some suggestions for stylesheet language, but CSS is the first to have a "cascade" idea. In CSS, a file's style can be inherited from another style sheet. In some places, the reader can use his or her preferred style, and in other places inherit, or "Cascade" the author's style. This cascading approach allows both the author and the reader the flexibility to join their own designs and to mix their hobbies.

Hakun first presented the recommendations of CSS at a meeting in Chicago in 1994, and in 1995 he showed it again with Persia. At that time, the creation of the new, the development of CSS is very interesting, it organized a seminar. Hakun, Persia and others (such as Microsoft's Thomas Relden) are the main technical leaders of the project. At the end of 1996, CSS was completed. The first version of the December 1996 CSS requirement was published.

At the beginning of 1997, a working group specializing in CSS was organized by the Chris Riley. The Working Group began to discuss issues not covered in the first edition, and the result was the second edition of the requirements published in May 1998. Until 2004, the third edition has not yet been published.


