Use the Forefront TMG Starter Wizard to configure or modify initial deployment settings. The wizard consists of the following three sub wizards:

Network Setup Wizard-for configuring the network adapter on the server. The network adapter is associated with a unique Forefront TMG network.

System Configuration Wizard-for configuring operating system settings, such as computer name information and domain or workgroup settings.

Deployment Wizard-for configuring malware protection for WEB communications and for joining customer feedback planning and telemetry services.

Before running the Getting Started Wizard

Before you run the Getting Started wizard, you should do the following:

Learn how Forefront TMG uses network object representation structures. For information, see Planning your Forefront TMG network topology.

Learn the pros and cons of making Forefront TMG a domain member. For information, see your workgroup and domain considerations.

Gather the following information about network adapter settings:

Settings for a network adapter connected to a local access network, such as an IP address, subnet mask, and Domain Name System (DNS) server address.

The settings for the network adapter that is connected to the Internet. If your Internet service provider (ISP) provides a static address, record the IP address, subnet mask, and DNS server address.

Settings for any other network adapter on your computer, such as a third network adapter that is connected to the perimeter network.

Make sure that you know the server name and the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) (if the computer belongs to a domain).

Run Getting Started Wizard

After you install Forefront TMG, you can run the Getting Started Wizard to configure basic deployment settings, including network adapter settings, policy updates, and joining a server to a workgroup or domain.

Attention:

The Getting Started wizard can only run locally. Cannot run with remote administration.

Attention:

You should not make changes to the NIC after you run the Getting Started wizard.
