Import Settings
Each type of asset this Unity supports have a set of Import Settings, which affect how the asset appears or behaves. To view a asset ' s import settings, select the asset in the Project view. The import settings for this asset would appear in the Inspector. The options that is displayed would vary depending on the type of asset it is selected.
Any unity-supported resource has import settings that will affect the display and performance of the resource. To view resource import settings, select a resource view in the Project view. The resource import settings are displayed on the view. The options that are displayed vary depending on the resource.
For example, the import settings for an image would allow you to choose whether it ' s imported as a texture, a 2D sprite, or A normal map. The import settings for a FBX file allow you to adjust the scale, generate normals or lightmap coordinates, and split &am P Trim animation clips defined in the file.
For example, the picture import settings will allow you to select it as a decal, a 2D sprite or a standard picture import. fbx file Import settings allow you to change the size, generate generic or light map coordinates, and split and decorate the animation clips defined in the file.
Clicking on a image asset in the Project Window shows the import settings for that asset in the Inspector
Clicking on a picture resource in the Project window displays the resource import settings in the Inspector panel.
For other asset types, the import settings would look different. The various settings you see would relate to the type of asset selected. Here's an example of a Audio asset, with its related import settings shown in the Inspector.

Select a sound resource in the Project window and display its import settings in the View panel.
If you is developing a Cross-platform project, you can override the "default" settings and assign different import Settin GS on a per-platform basis.
If you are developing a platform project, you may override the default settings and assign different import settings on each platform.
