Unix study--aix 6.1 Configuring the Network installation Service

The network installation reduces the maintenance burden on administrators and allows the installation of AIX systems to be deployed in batches.

First, configure the network installation server

1) server-side configuration

# Prtconf|more

system model: ibm,9131-52amachine serial number: 10367fgprocessor type:  Powerpc_power5processor implementation mode: power 5processor version: pv_5_ 2number of processors: 2processor clock speed: 1898 mhzcpu type:  64-bitkernel type: 64-bitlpar info: 1 10-367fgmemory size: 1904 mbgood  Memory Size: 1904 MBPlatform Firmware level: SF240_219Firmware  version: ibm,sf240_219console login: enableauto restart: truefull core:  false network information        host name: aix219         IP Address: 192.168.8.219         Sub Netmask: 255.255.255.0         gateway:          name server:         domain  name:  paging space information        total  paging space: 2048mb        percent used: 2%

2) View server-side software requirements
# lslpp-l |grep Nim

----must install the NIM-related package and, if the software is missing, it can be installed via the AIX 6.1 system installation Disk (1).

3) Configuring the NIM server

#smit Nim

----in, En0 for the server Connection network card,/dev/cd0 for the system installation source (AIX6.1 system disk (1)); By building the NIM server, you can build a system-like installation tree on the server disk, the client accesses the installation tree over the network, and then downloads to the local disk installation.

Lpp_source_name default to Lpp_source1, you can change to a more intuitive name, such as lpp_source_aix6

The rest can choose the default value

Note: The system to be installed must be lower than the system version of the NIM server

After the NIM server is successfully established, the appropriate file system is established and the installation tree is stored under the file system.

Note: If the Crfs:0506-909/export/nim/lpp_source file system already exists is displayed here. It is possible to indicate that a previous operation similar to the current command has not been cleaned up, and can be executed at this time:

# Rmfs/export/nim/lpp_source

# df-m
Filesystem MB blocks free%used iused%iused mounted on

/DEV/FSLV01 640.00 57.81 91% 14430 50%/export/spot

To view the installation tree:
# ls-l/export

4) Configuring the Hosts file

# cat/etc/hosts (writes the MAC address and assigned IP of the client machine NIC to the Hosts file)

Second, configure the client installation tree

After you configure the installation tree-----Client, you can install the operating system via SMS!

Full record of configuring NIM server under AIX system

Classification: system operation and Maintenance

This article refers to links:
1) http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg3T1010383
2) Http://www.warmetal.nl/aixnim
1. Install the necessary fileset:
bash-3.2# installp-acgxd/dev/cd0 Bos.sysmgt.nim
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://blog.chinaunix.net/attachment/201208/17/23769728_1345167479rCK3.png "height=" 265 "width=" 604 "border=" 0 "style=" border:0px; "/>

2. Initialize the Nim Master
Tell someone, "I am a NIM master, yeah"

bash-3.2# nimconfig-a pif_name=en0-a master_port=1058-a netname=master_net-
A CABLE_TYPE=BNC
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://blog.chinaunix.net/attachment/201208/17/23769728_1345167855V8Vv.png "height=" 81 "Width=" 602 "border=" 0 "style=" border:0px; "/>

Once this is done, Nim Master is ready to work, and with the lsnim-l command you can see that Nimconfig has pre-generated some resources for NIM master:
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://blog.chinaunix.net/attachment/201208/17/23769728_13451682183Vxx.png "height=" 346 "width=" 596 "border=" 0 "style=" border:0px; "/>

3. Creating Lpp_source and Spot Resources
First, create a separate file system to accommodate Lpp_source resources:
bash-3.2# crfs-v jfs2-g rootvg-m/export/nim/lpp_source-a size=15g

Note: If the Crfs:0506-909/export/nim/lpp_source file system already exists is displayed here. It is possible to indicate that a previous operation similar to the current command has not been cleaned up, and can be executed at this time:
bash-3.2# Rmfs/export/nim/lpp_source
And then we can do the previous one.
)

Mount the file system:
bash-3.2# Mount/export/nim/lpp_source
Then you can create a Lpp_source resource:

bash-3.2# nim-o define-t lpp_source-a location=/export/nim/lpp_source/61_06
-A server=master-a comments= ' 6100-06 lpp_source '-a multi_volume=yes-a source
=/dev/cd0-a Packages=all 6106_LPP
(
Note: Multi_volume=yes, requires that all volumes in the installation value on the specified device in source be copied to under the/export/nim/lpp_source/61_06 directory
)

Preparing to copy install images (this would take several minutes) ...
...
/export/nim/lpp_source/61_06/installp/ppc/directorcommonagent.6.2.0.1.i
Bffcreate:please Insert Volume 2 into device/dev/cd0 and press Enter
(This is a topic unrelated to the theme, because when we created the Lpar of AIX, it was provided with a virtual CD-ROM, which is a file-backed device, then back it's file is the/var/vio/on the Vios Vmlibrary/aix6.1-a.iso, now because the current nim-o define-t lpp_source command needs to copy the contents of the entire AIX 6100-06 installation disk to/export/nim_lpp_source/61_ 06 directory, so after the exam aix6.1-a.iso content, now prompt needs Aix6.1-b.iso content. So here's the command to execute in the Vios:
-bash-3.2$ unloadopt-vtd nim_vcd0 (This command will unload nim_vcd0 file backed in VTD Aix6.1-a.iso)
And then:
-bash-3.2$ Loadopt-disk AIX6.1-B.ISO-VTD nim_vcd0
This would be equivalent to inserting the Aix6.1-b CD in the AIX CD-ROM drive, and the return copy will continue. If you want to add a new virtual optical drive to AIX, just create a new vtd in the Vios and then #cfgmgr the AIX system to see the dynamically added virtual optical drive.
)
Now checking for missing install images ...
All required install images has been found. This lpp_source.

After successful execution of the Nim-o define-t lpp_source command above, a new Lpp_source resource 6106_LPP was created, which placed content on the AIX 6100-06 operating system installation disk.

The next step is to create a spot resource based on the 6106_LPP resource created above, as well as creating storage space for the resource first:
bash-3.2# crfs-v jfs2-g rootvg-m/export/nim/spot-a size=10g
bash-3.2# Mount/export/nim/spot
Then create the resource spot:
bash-3.2# nim-o define-t spot-a server=master-a source=aix_6106_lpp-a loca
Tion=/export/nim/spot-a auto_expand=yes-a comments= ' 6100-06 spot ' aix_6106_sp
Ot

Now NIM Master has the following resources:
650) this.width=650; "src=" Http://blog.chinaunix.net/attachment/201208/17/23769728_1345184606H5O6.png "height=" 155 "width=" 526 "border=" 0 "style=" border:0px; "/>

From the above steps, simply configuring a NIM server is relatively simple. Once we have the NIM environment, we actually have a lot of things to play with, such as we look at the next blog post, MKSYSB to backup the NIM server just configured, and then re-migrated to a new Lpar
