Update the ClamAV Anti-Virus Software Package in CentOS

Recently, I have been studying how to set up Postfix to implement the Mail Gateway under CentOS, so that I can prepare for disaster recovery of the mail platform gateway in the future, today, I installed Postfix in the installation configuration of ClamAV Anti-Virus Software Package update, and encountered an episode.

The specific problem is not a major problem, that is, the version installed earlier than ClamAV is 0.98.4. When the installation is complete, the update of the anti-virus library is still normal, but after a while, this error is reported when you execute freshclam to upgrade the virus database.

At that time, there was nothing to think about. Let's update the version. Execute Yum update and find that the latest version cannot be found. Later, we thought that yum update would not work, go to the official website to find the rpm package or source code package, but after searching for a long time, only the link to download the source code package is found on the official website. It is smooth to download the compilation and Make Install, however, after the installation, I found that the version is still prompted to expire again, which made me very helpless. I found that only version 0.98.4 was available for third-party Yum sources on the Internet, this made my Linux cabbage quite depressing for a moment. I just had to wait and think about the current path. I can look for it on the official website, after not knowing the number of layers of directories, I found the ClamAV Yum source installation package in an inconspicuous place. It seems that the installation and download are as follows:

I thought this could be updated. When ClamAV was installed, the following error was reported:

According to the prompts, there should be a problem in writing the repo file. Go to epel. the repo file is found to be incorrect in the location of the baseurl and comment list comments, you can refer to the article I wrote earlier about deploying and installing Linux using Cobbler. I also mentioned that the repo file comment error causes the Yum installation software to fail. Use the following method to modify the content, save it.

Modify the file "/etc/yum. repos. d/epel. repo", uncomment the baseurl, and comment out the comment list. You can. Run the Yum install ClamAV command again and you can update it. You can see the latest version:

After the update and installation, run the freshclam command again to upgrade the virus database. No version error is reported, as shown in:

From the above, it is updated. Go to the/var/log/clamav/directory to view the freshclam. log file, which is shown as follows:

From this error, we can see that the ClamAV Anti-virus software package should not only focus on whether the virus database is updated, but also ensure that the software is updated normally. When there is a newer ClamAV version than you are using, you will receive the "Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATE" prompt when executing freshclam. To detect the latest virus, you must not only have the latest virus database, update the scan program to the latest version.

Well, the above is the troubleshooting process of the ClamAV Anti-Virus Software Package update I encountered in this Linux cabbage, I hope to help other friends who have encountered this problem and are working on it.
