Upgrade KDE Plasma 15.04 in Kubuntu 5.3
KDE has released the Plasma 5.3 stable version, which includes a new stable feature in power management.
We have been impressed by the beta version in April and are even eager to try it. The latest update of the stable version of Plasma 5 desktop environment is stable and can be downloaded.
Plasma 5.3 continues to improve and refine the new KDE Desktop, which adds a large number of features for the desktop user experience. It also fixed up to 400 errors, which greatly improved performance and stability.
Something new in Plasma 5.3
Better Bluetooth Management in Plasma 5.3
In the early articles about Plasma 5.3, we touched on a large number of new features, many of which are worth repeating.
Enhanced Power management features and configuration options, including new power applets, energy usage monitoring, and dynamic screen brightness changes, will help increase KDE's endurance on mobile devices.
When the notebook lid is closed when an external monitor is connected, the 'hup' operation is no longer triggered. This new behavior is called the 'cinema mode' and is enabled by default. However, you can disable it by using the related options in the Power Management settings.
The improved Bluetooth feature brings a brand new Panel applet that makes it easier to connect to and configure paired Bluetooth devices, such as smartphones, keyboards, and speakers.
Similarly, for Plasma 5.3, the track board configuration in KDE is more convenient, thanks to the new installation and setting module.
Track board, touch pad. Tomato, Tomayto.
For the Plasma widget enthusiast, it brings a hold-down and lock gesture. When this function is enabled, the settings that appear when you move the mouse are hidden. Instead, it only occurs when the widget is clicked for a long time.
When talking about things like widgets-y, this release introduces several of the most popular items in the old Plasmoid, includes a useful system monitor, convenient hard drive statistics, and a cartoon reader.

To install Plasma 5.3 to Kubuntu 15.04, you need to add KDE to port PPA, run the Software Updater tool, and install any available updates.
Kubuntu PPA porting may also upgrade other KDE platform components besides Plasma installed on your system, including KDE applications, frameworks, and specific Kubuntu configuration files.
So far, using the command line to upgrade to Plasma 5.3 In Kubuntu is the fastest way:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
If everything goes well after the upgrade, restart your computer.
If you are using a backup desktop environment, such as LXDE, Unity, or GNOME, then you need to install the Kubuntu desktop package after running the above two commands (you can find it in the Ubuntu Software Center ).
You can use the PPA-Purge tool to downgrade to the self-contained Plasma version 15.04:
sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
