Upgrade Linux Mint 16 petra to Mint 17 Qianna
This article describes how to upgrade the existing Linux Mint 16 to Mint 17.
Note: if conditions permit, it is best to reinstall Mint.
Open the command line and enter the following four commands.
$ Sudo sed-I's/saucy/trusty/'/etc/apt/sources. list
$ Sudo sed-I's/petra/qiana/'/etc/apt/sources. list
$ Sudo sed-I's/saucy/trusty/'/etc/apt/sources. list. d/official-package-repositories.list
$ Sudo sed-I's/petra/qiana/'/etc/apt/sources. list. d/official-package-repositories.list
The four commands changed the software source from saucy to trusty and from petra to qiana.
Run the following command to upgrade the system:
$ Sudo apt-get update & sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
$ Sudo apt-get upgrade
The next step is the upgrade time. The specific cost depends on the hardware and network speed of the computer.
After the upgrade, restart.
