Upgrading to Ubuntu 12.10 fails to enter the original Gnome3 (Gnome-Shell) GUI.

Problem description: I want to upgrade my linux system a few days ago. I used to use Ubuntu 12.04. Now I want to upgrade it to Ubuntu 12.10, it takes one night for it to automatically upgrade. After you get up the next morning, the update is successful. The problem is that after the upgrade, you cannot enter the graphical interface. The logon window is still available. However, after entering the user name and password, a prompt is displayed and the logon page is displayed. However, if you log on with a Guest account, you can enter the Unity GUI. In addition, Ctrl + Alt + F1 can also enter the character terminal. What should I do? Where is the problem?

The specific download directory is in the/June/28th/upgrade to Ubuntu 12.10. The original Gnome3 (Gnome-Shell) graphical interface cannot be accessed.

1) Later, I created a new user (which can be viewed as aborn2). The user can also log on to the Unity GUI. The Unity GUI is the default logon interface after Ubuntu is installed. I found the cause of the problem on the Internet for a long time and found the following:

Gnome is a linux operating system desktop environment, and gnome-shell is a Windows Management Program in the gnome desktop environment. The style of the window you see is controlled by it.

A: You use gnome 2.x, while gnome-shell is the window manager of gnome 3. The gnome version is different, and gnome-shell cannot be installed in gnome 2.x. If you want to use gnome-shell, you have to install the gnome 3 desktop environment. gnome 3 cannot be the same as gnome 2. x coexist. After gnome 3 is installed, you cannot enter gnome 2.x. gnome 3 and gnome-shell (unless you enter the command line and secure mode, otherwise, you are always in gnome-shell). Normally, you cannot leave gnome-shell. You are operating gnome through gnome-shell, gnome-shell is part of gnome, so you are always in gnome from start to end. gnome-shell is the graphic user interface of gnome 3 desktop environment.

I have installed a gnome-shell2.31.5 in the Software Center, gnome comes with 2.32.0, is not allowed into shell? If I install gnome3.0, then the window border effect I set earlier will be unavailable?

A: Enter gnome-shell -- replace in the terminal to check whether there is any response. If it succeeds, your interface will change. If it succeeds, you have to open compizConfig and find "window decoration". In the "command" box, enter gnome-shell -- replace, and close compizConfig, gnome-shell will be used each time you enter the desktop, instead of the previous user environment. If you want to install gnome 3.0, the previous window effects and styles will become invalid. However, the gnome-shell installed in gnome 2 is unstable. We recommend that you use gnome 3.

That is to say, I have installed gnome3 and gnome-shell in Ubuntu12.04, so that my Unity graphic interface is gone. Therefore, after being updated to Ubuntu12.10, gnome3 does not exist, and Unity does not. Therefore, you cannot log on to it. I guess this is the case. The new user has a default Unity interface, so he can enter the graphics system.

2) How can this problem be solved? You can reinstall gnome3 and gnome-shell. After entering the logon interface, you can only press Ctrl + Alt + F1 to enter the character terminal. Okay! Re-install the following installation package:

3) I searched the internet for a long time and found it was a problem with the update source. Because the update source address of our system is still 12.04, modify the content of the/etc/apt/sources. list file To Netease's latest source address as follows:
