According to the latest US study, women who have been taking "Tylenol", a non-prescription drug, have twice the risk of hypertension. American doctors recommend that these women monitor their blood pressure.
Many commonly used over-the-counter pain medications are found to cause high blood pressure. A number of previous studies have also found that prescriptions for non-class fixed alcohol anti-inflammatory drugs can increase the risk of heart disease. "Tylenol" is the only drug that does not belong to this type of medicine, its chemical composition is aminophenol, which has always been considered safe. However, according to a study at Harvard Medical School and the burgum Women's Hospital in Boston, 34-77-year-old women have an average of more than 500 mg of "Tylenol" daily, the risk of developing hypertension within three years is twice that of normal people.
The study, attended by 5123 women, also showed that women aged 51-77 years old had a 400 higher risk of hypertension than those who did not take this type of drugs for non-class fixed alcohol, anti-inflammatory drugs, over 78% mg, this risk is 60% higher for women aged 34-53.
Because headaches may be the result of high blood pressure, the study ruled out factors for women with medication headaches. The study also showed that aspirin remains the safest drug for pain relief.
The study was published on the newest Journal of hypertension published by the American Heart Society.
