USB settings for XP on virtualbox

Source: Internet
Author: User

Environment: Host: ubuntu10.04, virtualbox: 3.2, XP

Some USB devices, such as my mobile phone, can be inserted into the computer and displayed in the "USB devices" menu in vbox, and can be selected and mounted, but after a card reader is inserted, it can be displayed, but it is grayed out. There is no way to select the Mount. I found a lot of information and finally solved it. The procedure is as follows:

1: sudo groupadd usbfs and sudo adduser $ user usbfs in Ubuntu

2: usb fs is found in sudo gedit/etc/group. What I found is: USB FS: X: 1002: LXD. Remember group ID 1002.

3: sudo gedit/etc/fstab, add one line: NONE/proc/bus/USB usbfs devgid = 1002 devmode = 666 0 0

In the virtual machine settings, USB settings, USB devices are added to the filter, and Ubuntu is restarted.
