Compared with Cable wired connections and ddnleased lines, it is quite troublesome for ADSL to perform virtual dialing before use. Not only do dial-up software such as Enternet occupy a large amount of system resources, but more importantly, once we restart the computer, our IP address will also change, this is a headache for users who need to assume an FTP server or a personal Web site. In fact, ADSL can also enable the Internet at startup like a Cable with a wire connection. Let's take a look at how to implement this function.
Note that the principle of implementing this function is to use the built-in dialing program of ADSLModem. At present, many external ADSLModem devices that use Ethernet interfaces have built-in large-capacity ROM chips, so we can fully utilize them. Taking ZTE ADSL831 as an example, we can easily upgrade the Firmware of ADSLModem to version 2.79.
First, log on to www.zte.com.cn to download the latest BIOS version. The Firmware upgrade of ADSLModem can be carried out in the MS-DOS mode, so you do not need to enter pure DOS. In fact, it cannot be refreshed in pure DOS, because our Nic cannot work in pure DOS. However, when upgrading Firmware, We must disconnect the ADSLModem, which cannot be forgotten. Otherwise, unexpected faults may occur. The Firmware upgrade of ADSLModem is very simple, because ZTE has prepared a BAT batch processing file for us. We only need to use the xupgrade command to add the default IP address when ADSLModem leaves the factory. For ZTE ADSL831, run the following command:
Xupgrade192.168.1.1
Among them, "192.168.1.1" is the default IP address. For different ADSLModem, this data is also different. For details, refer to the instructions! Because the entire refresh process is slow and lasts for nearly one minute, please make sure that the power is continuously stopped, and try to close all the programs before refresh to avoid sudden crashes.
Of course, refreshing Firmware does not directly bring us the "Boot online" function. You still need to make some settings. First, we need to find a serial data line, which is the same as the data line used by common Modem, with one being a needle and the other being a hole. After connecting this data line to the ADSLModem and the PC serial port respectively, we can start terminal maintenance.
First, open the Super Terminal in the Windows attachment. Users who use the default method to install Windows may need to add this component again. After you open the Super Terminal for the first time, the system will require you to select the correct COM port, because the main board usually has two COM ports, do not make a mistake. Then, the super supervisor will ask each parameter value. In this case, do not use the default value, but set the baud rate to 9600 and the traffic control to "NONE ". Before communication to the ADSLModem terminal, we may also need to enter the password. The factory password of ZTE ADSL831 is lower case adsl831. For other products, see the instructions.
In order to prevent exceptions in the future modification process, we recommend that you first type the show command to confirm and record the current parameter values, so as to leave a basis for future recovery, it is also used in subsequent settings. To enable the ADSLModem to implement built-in ROM automatic dialing, We must modify its working mode. Enter the Mode command and select r (Router ). Then we enter the quick Command to quickly configure the operational parameters of ADSLModem. First, the super supervisor will ask about the connection protocol. Here we select PPPoE (pe ). For the EthernetIP, Subnetmask, VPI, and VCI parameters, you can enter the data as recorded previously. do not modify the data. Finally, when the Super Terminal asks about Authentication, We must select PAP (p). Only in this way can we enable automatic online access at startup. However, we enter the ADSL access user name and password provided by China Telecom. Note that they are case sensitive and save the settings.
When the success is over, we enter the Save command to allow ADSLModem to write the modified value to the ROM and restart. Of course, you must uninstall Enternet and other virtual dialing software to avoid conflicts. Now, restart the PC and we can "Start the Internet!
It should be noted that the modification methods for ADSLModem of different brands may be different, but the general process is still the same. I hope you can draw a line from each other. In addition, some models of ADSLModem may not support built-in dialing, because it does not have any ROM space, especially some built-in Using PCI interfaces.
