Recently, as a result of the business relationship, we need to install an HP Server that was originally installed with win2003 into a red hat linux6.1.

I thought it was a simple task. I ran into the data center with a CD. As a result, I was stunned. No one of the three DVDs was available, and all of them showed medium damage. (Mei's) it's troublesome now.

Think that windows can be installed from a USB flash drive, so linux should be fine.

The preparation is as follows:

A 4g usb flash drive, a ISO 6.1 ISO of about 2.9 GB (I downloaded a 32-bit), and a set of UltraISO software.

Enable linux ISO in UltraISO. Select "start" -- "Write hard disk image"

On the displayed page, select the USB flash drive as the hard drive (do not select the wrong one, otherwise your hard drive will be suspended), click "write", and wait until the writing is completed.

Plug in the USB flash drive on the server and adjust it to boot exceptions after the USB flash drive starts. I suspect it is a problem with the CD-Rom ISO, and the problem still persists when I re-download an ISO. It is estimated that it is a problem with the boot file.

The time is late. Continue the next day. Yesterday, I used ISO to write data to a USB flash drive and it cannot be started. It seems to be a little different from WIN. WIN can be used directly. After reading the documents on the Internet, I wrote that I could try to use the BOOT. iso file provided on the official website, and then install the linux6.1 ISO file on the USB flash drive. Start to try.

Download a file rhel-server-6.1-i386-boot.iso. If necessary, you can download it online. There are many connections. <喎?http: www.bkjia.com kf ware vc " target="_blank" class="keylink"> VcD4KPHA + kernel/CvM/CoaM8L3A + CjxwPtTZtM69 + kernel/N + kernel/kernel + yc/D5szhtb21xM/Wz/kernel/a1vbXE0rvR + rack + cu1tcTQ3rjEz + C52M7EvP6hozwvcD4KPHA + primary + pgltzybzcm9 "http://www.2cto.com/uploadfile/Collfiles/20140327/2014032709015918.jpg" alt = "\">

Click "OK"

Select the keyboard type, select "us", and click OK.

Note the selection of this interface. Because we are using a USB flash disk as the installation media, we need to select Hard drive"

This is the disk where you choose to install the file. Because our ISO is on the USB flash disk and my server is one hard disk apart from the USB flash disk, This is the default USB flash disk, if you have multiple options and are not sure about them, try one by one. Click OK. Do not change other content.

Next we will see a long-overdue installation screen. It is estimated that everyone will be here, but we should continue to pay attention to the fact that the installation is not over yet.

We need to pay special attention to this location, which is prone to errors. Because we are installing a USB flash drive, the system will not directly use the default disk drive as it is normally installed using a CD, in this dialog box, select the disk drive on which the linux system is installed. We can see that 20 GB is the physical disk we want to use, so we select it and click the right arrow to add it to the target device.

Another step that is easy to ignore is to select the disk where the boot program is located. There is a circular button on the left side of the selected disk name. We select it to indicate that the boot guide program is installed on our disk. You must make such a choice. Otherwise, the installed system will be started through the USB flash drive by default. If you unplug the USB flash drive, it will not start. Experience with blood and tears ~~~~ Brother did not select the correct one during the first installation and then re-installed it.

The system is the same and no special settings are required.

The following is a summary:

The following preparations are required to start and install the linux system using a USB flash drive:

A USB flash drive of at least 4 GB;

Dedicated boot ISO file rhel-server-6.1-i386-boot.iso, write it into the U disk;

Linux installation ISO file rhel-server-6.1-i386-dvd.iso, copy it to the U disk root directory;

Install the UltraISO software to write the USB flash drive image.

The procedure is as follows:

1. Use UltraISO to write the rhel-server-6.1-i386-boot.iso into the U disk;

2. Change the syslinux. cfg file in the syslinux directory of the USB flash drive to default linux timeout 600 label linux kernel vmlinuz append initrd = initrd. img

3, copy the rhel-server-6.1-i386-dvd.iso to the u disk root directory;

4. Insert the USB flash disk into the server and turn the server into a USB flash disk for startup;

5. Start installation.

We recommend that you save the connection in this article for temporary use.
