Use a laptop wireless network card as a router to build a LAN

If there is no wireless router, a laptop with a wireless network card can also build a LAN.

Now, more and more users are using laptops. To make it easier for users to move their offices and access the Internet at any time, some families or organizations use wireless routers to build a wireless network, which provides convenience for laptops to access the Internet. However, in an environment without a wireless network, the wireless functions of the notebook become useless. But have you ever thought about creating a wireless LAN in the dormitory using the laptop wireless network card interconnection function? This not only enables Internet sharing, but also enables file sharing between computers.

Knowledge: point-to-point Wireless Networks 

A wireless Interconnected Network, also known as point-to-point automatic networking. Such a network implements a Peer-to-Peer or Peer-to-Multi-Peer Ad-Hoc network through software, in this network, the wireless network adapter will automatically search for other wireless devices, and then automatically perform fast connection and networking. A point-to-point Ad-Hoc network is also a simple lan. Users can share resources, file transfers, game PK, Internet sharing, and other functions.

After learning about the principles of point-to-point wireless networks, we can establish a network. In fact, it is not difficult to set up the Ad-Hoc network. We can use the wireless setting Wizard provided by Windows XP to achieve wireless interconnection.

1. Use the wireless setup wizard to achieve wireless Interconnection

When setting up an Ad-Hoc network, use one of the laptops as the host, and make sure that the computer is connected to the Internet through a local connection or dial-up.

1. Enable the point-to-point mode of the wireless network card

When setting, we first go to the "Wireless Network Connection Properties" interface of the wireless network adapter (figure 1 ).

On this page, click the "advanced" button in the lower-right corner to open the "advanced options" interface, and click "computer to computer only" in the "Network to be accessed" option (figure 2 ). This setting is very important. Through this setting, we enable the point-to-point interconnection function of the wireless network card.

2. Set network flag

After enabling the point-to-point feature of the wireless network, we also need to add a Service Identifier (SSID) for the wireless network so that other laptops can search for the wireless network of the computer through the wireless network card. If you do not want to encrypt the network, you can set the password mode to "disabled" in "Data Encryption ". Next, we need to specify an IP address and subnet mask for the host.

After the host is set, you only need to set the wireless network adapter to any available network or computer-only mode on the "wireless network configuration" page for other computers. You do not need to perform other operations. After setting the client, right-click the Wireless Network icon in the taskbar and select "view available wireless networks". The wireless network adapter will automatically find the configured "SSID, in this way, the wireless network card can be connected to the wireless network card of the host.

Through the above settings, the wireless network has been set up successfully, so that users can share files in the wireless network.

3. Internet sharing settings

Although the wireless network card is successfully connected, other computers still cannot share the network through the wireless network card, because the host currently uses a local connection to access the Internet, after we share the dial-up connection or local connection in the host, the other computer can access the Internet through wireless networks.

After the above settings, the point-to-point interconnection network has been established successfully. Although there is no vro, we can still use features such as file transmission and Internet sharing in the LAN.

2. Use the SONbuddy software to build a fast multi-machine Interconnection

Through the above settings, the point-to-point network has been set successfully, but Windows XP only provides the network setting function, for some network operations, operations such as file transfer, resource sharing, Intranet chat, and multiplayer games are not convenient. We can also use software to achieve wireless interconnection. "SONbuddy" not only provides fast network functions, in addition, operations such as file transfer, resource sharing, Intranet chat, and multiplayer games can be implemented, which makes users easy.

First, install the program on the computer on which the couplet is needed, and set a computer as a host. Run the SONbuddy program on the host. The program provides the setting wizard mode. You only need to follow the prompts to perform step-by-step operations. During the setting process, it is worth noting that in the "available network" option, click "point-to-point mode (Ad-Hoc)" and select the "SONbuddy" check box below (Figure 3 ).

Open the "Preferences" page, select the "enable SONbuddy automatically" and "shared connection" check boxes and the "detect shared network connections" and "shared LAN" options below (figure 4 ).

After the SONbuddy configuration is complete, we can set the network for other computers according to this method. After the other computers are configured, the wireless network is successfully established. After the network is set, go to the SONbuddy program interface. SONbuddy will automatically search for wireless networks. After searching, the connected users will be displayed as friends on the main interface.

After the above settings, we can use several laptops with wireless NICs to temporarily form a wireless LAN, so that users can directly access the Internet and share resources with each other.
