Multi-machine sharing an ADSL broadband line online has become the most popular topic on BBS. Most of the way is to use a host agent, other computers through this agent Internet. What if the mainframe doesn't open? A simpler way is to use the ADSL Modem with the leading role. The specific implementation method, see below decomposition.
Hardware Preparation
First of all, to understand my network environment, I use ADSL broadband by the local telecom to provide (monthly). Uses the telephone line connection, the PPPoE protocol virtual dial-up Internet, the dynamic allocation IP address. The attached ADSL modem is the GRT1500 of the feature by the green-resistant. Hardware required for networking: lead the way by the function of the ADSL Modem, hub hub or small switch (the number of ports to require a networked computer), a crossover network cable, a number of parallel network cable (note: Crossover cable at one end using 568B production, the other end of the use of 568A production. Parallel network cable are both made of 568B) and each computer network card piece.
First step: Hardware connection
Use a crossover cable to connect the ADSL modom LAN port to the hub's uplink port. Of course, you have to connect the phone line to the Modom lines Port first. The other ports of the hub are then connected to each computer's network card via a parallel network cable (Figure 1). Don't answer the counter!
Step Two: Set up your computer's network card
Because the GRT1500 default IP address is 192.168.1.1, we must first set the computer to the same network segment as the ADSL modom, otherwise it will not be able to communicate. The steps are as follows (in Windows 98, for example, the settings for other systems are similar). Right-click on the desktop of the "Network Neighborhood" icon, select "Properties", in the pop-up dialog box, double-click the corresponding TCP/IP protocol, in the presence of the dialog box to fill in the following appropriate content:
IP for 192.168.1.2 (note do not fill in the 192.168.1.1, because it has been taken up by the modem, as shown in Figure 3)
Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0
Gateway for 192.168.1.1
Preferred DNS for 202.101.107.55
Note: DNS varies from place to place, please consult your local telecommunications department. When you set up DNS, you will be required to fill out the server name, regardless of it, love fill in what to fill in, as shown in Figure 2.
Step Three: Modify GRT1500
The next operation is to modify the GRT1500, there is a certain risk (and change the motherboard bios somewhat similar), so I suggest you find a higher stability of the machine. Open IE Browser, enter 192.168.1.1 In the Address bar, and then appear as shown in Figure 4 after the carriage return. In the username and password fields, enter root and 12345 (if not, refer to the manual or contact the vendor) and click "OK" to log in as shown in Figure 5.

Fourth step: Turn on the GRT1500 DHCP function
If the reader is set exactly as set in this article, you can skip this step! Click "DHCP Settings" in Figure 5, if the user wants to turn on the GRT1500 DHCP function, you need to select the "Activation" option in the diagram, fill in the relevant parameters, and then click "Apply", then the user's computer card set to automatically obtain the address. If the user wants to fix the address, there is no need to change any configuration.
Note: The gateway must be a GET1500 LAN address, and DNS is best to fill in the IP address of the local DNS.
Fifth Step: Configure PPPoE and PPPoA
PPPoE and PPPOA configuration exactly the same, the specific use of which access depends on the specific circumstances, it should be noted that: User name, password, VPI, VCI, authentication mode, are provided by the ISP, any one of the errors will lead to dial-up unsuccessful. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Click on "Wan Settings" in Figure 5 to see the image shown in Figure 6. In the "VPI" box, fill in 8, "VCI" in 35 (8/35 for the network works) as shown in Figure 7.
2. Click on the "PPPoE (Activation Nat)" option, in the User name and password box after filling in the broadband provider to your account and password, such as user name (Quanzhou, Fujian) for the 8163816@ads,l password is 8163816.
3. According to the actual situation choose the Internet Mode "direct" (monthly billing mode) and "Auto" (according to the actual Internet time or data flowmeter fees). Specify "Free Time (min)" (Default is 5 seconds, the ADSL line if there is no data in 5 seconds, will automatically disconnect, when you start to transfer data, it automatically restores). Can be set according to their own actual situation. Select the checksum protocol chap, PAP, MSCHAPV1, and MSCHAPV2, typically provided by your ISP. Click the "Modify" button to complete the modification. If it is the user of telecommunications generally default can be.
4. This step will preserve changes to the GRT15000. Click Save && start in Figure 5 and click the "Save" button on the page that appears (Figure 8). Then restart the computer, close the ADSL modem and then open. So you have completed the modification of the GRT15000. Open IE try to surf the internet, do not need to dial oh, also do not install the PPPoE protocol.
5. If you accidentally set a bug or want to revert to the modem default configuration, click "Eliminate && reboot" in Figure 5, click "Erase" in the page (see Figure 9), and then reboot.
Sixth step: Configuration of other clients
The setting method for other clients on the network is exactly the same as the first setting method:
ip:192.168.1.x (x is 3-255 because 1 and 2 are occupied)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Preferred dns:202.101.107.55
If the client has other connections before this, delete all. If you want to allow computers on your network to access each other, there is no difference between the set method and the normal LAN.
My unit four computers in this way to share the time, the network connection is very stable, never had a phenomenon of disconnection. However, there is a drawback is that the network can not control the client's Internet access time and permissions.
