Second, backup and restore active Directory
SCDPM2012 provides two types of system protection, bare metal Recovery (BMR), and System state recovery, and the process of recovering the operating system is the same regardless of the manner in which it is used.
Restoring a BMR or System state backup to a network location;
Start your system with a disc image and go into winre (repair your computer) and connect the system to the network;
Load the mirror recovered from step 1 from the network location to start the recovery system;
The following is an example of Active Directory to see the bare metal recovery capabilities of DPM 2012. The backup of ad can do bare metal backup and System State backup for DC, restore the backup file to a storage location through DPM during recovery, and then restore manually according to the steps of recovering the operating system.
Prerequisite:
Bare Metal Recovery for DPM is based on Windows Server Backup, so the Windows Server Backup feature component needs to be installed on the protected side in advance.
Full backups of Windows Server backup are based on disk shadow copies. Therefore, to ensure that the protected side of the volume Shadow Copy service is in an automatic, starting state.
1. Create Active Directory protection group
In the DPM Management Console, click Protection on the left, switch to the Protection tab, and click New in the upper-left corner to create a protection group.
Open the Create Protection Group Wizard and click Next
Select the protection group type as "Server" and click "Next"
