Use textpad to build your Java ide

Most of my friends complain that Java is not an easy-to-use editor like VC. In fact, this is not a disadvantage, just get used to it. I personally think that the vc6 editing environment is not as good as Delphi, but it is easy to adapt slowly. However, I really don't want to write with notepad after I get familiar with Java.Program-- Syntax errors often occur and cannot be found. Creating an IDE dedicated to writing small Java programs is imminent.

My requirements for self-built IDE are:
1. The appearance is concise, beautiful, and generous. (due to my cleanliness, I have filtered out many editing environments such as jcreator. ^_^)
2. The installation and configuration are simple and convenient. (many editing environments such as ultraedit are filtered out)
3. Online JDK documentation can be conveniently called;
4. syntaxes are highlighted;
5. General Functions of the program editor: for example, the tab key is automatically changed to space, and the tab width is set.
6. Compile and debug Java and Applet programs in IDE.

So I chose textpad. Originally I used editplus2, which is also very useful. I think it is more powerful than textpad, but it is a little difficult to configure javac parameters. In addition, its default Java syntax is too fancy, the purple is ugly, so I don't need it anymore.
Textpad can be downloaded from the official textpad website. The latest version is also available on many Chinese websites, and an unofficial Chinese version is also available for use.

Textpad is well configured as a Java editor. You first install it, then install JDK, and then configure it as follows. Don't tell me you don't know where to download JDK. If you really don't know, please go to Sun's official website and download JDK of j2se. After installation, you need to set system environment variables. For details, refer to setting up environment variables for Java in windows. To select the jdk chm version for the online help documentation, download it in Java documentations for winhelp and htmlhelp.

Textpad is easy to set. For the sake of unified terminology, the original English version shall prevail.
In configure, select preference and tools. Click the Add drop-down menu and select Java SDK commands. Okey now has three more items in tools: compile Java, run Java application, and run Java applet. Simple. From this point, it is indeed better to configure than editplus. In addition, you can select compile Java in the tree structure on the left to customize its specific parameters. Of course, the default parameter is generally enough for pulling. By default, CTRL + 1, CTRL + 2, and CTRL + 3 are used to simplify the call of these commands. The Chinese version uses the Alt key by default, but you can modify it.

Next, click the "add" drop-down menu, select "Online Help File", and select the CHM version javadoc that you just downloaded to okey.

Next, I will briefly introduce the optimization of textpad Java IDE environment so that it is more suitable for compiling Java programs.

Configure-> preference-> document classes-> JAVA-> font Select fixsystem. The display in both Chinese and English looks good.
Configure-> preference-> document classes-> JAVA-> tabulation This depends on your habits. My default tab spacing and indent size are set to 4, and convert new tabs to spaces and convert existing tabs to spaces when saving files are checked, this ensures that my program is not distorted in the editor, so that it is convenient to post to the Forum.
Configure-> preference-> associated files The associated file is opened with textpad by double-clicking in the folder. Add a *. Java
Configure-> preference-> file name Filters File Name filter, of course, put Java at the top, so that you can easily save the file.
Configure-> preference-> folders Change the startup in it to the place where your program is stored. For example, my example is F:/freedebug/source/Java.
Configure-> preference-> keyboard If the startup tools hotkey you just set is not easy, you can change it here. Select tools in categories to find the corresponding item.
