Use VirtualBox to install Windows XP in Fedora9

I. Installation

Go to the official VirtualBox homepage http://www.virtualbox.org/download virtualbox-1.6.0_30421_fedora9-1.i586.rpm, and install it. Some warnings may appear during the installation process, because you have not installed the kernel-devel package and have not performed any related configuration.

Ii. Configuration

1. Add a software package: Install the kerne-devel package.

2. Add yourself to the vboxusers group: sudo/usr/sbin/usermod-a-G vboxusers yourname.

3. recompile and start vboxdrv: sudo/etc/init. d/vboxdrv setup.

Now VirtualBox is successfully installed.

Iii. Precautions for installing windows xp

1. When creating a VM, make sure that the system type option matches the system you want to install.

2. When allocating memory, ensure that there is enough free memory for Fedora 9. I tried to allocate my 1 GB memory to a virtual machine so that the system crashes frequently.

3. Virtual Machine Settings

The a audio card driver is recommended to select "PulseAudio". I have tried other drivers and cannot hear windows.

B shared directory is the main channel for interaction between virtual machines and hosts. After adding the directory to the virtual machine, you can mount the shared directory through "ing network drive" in windows.

4. Remember to install VBoxGuestAdditions, which can be mounted through CD/rom iso files. After installation, you will find that many "X" files in your Device Manager are missing.
