1.1 Managing accounts and groups on the Server Core
Because the Windows Serverr core operating system has only a command-line interface, the administration of user accounts and groups can only be implemented at the command line. You can also use graphical administrative tools to manage the accounts on the server core on a server that has a graphical interface to Windows Server 2008.
Using the command line to manage users and groups on the 1.1.1 Server core
Log in to the Server core as an administrator.
Enter NET user to view all accounts on the server.
Enter NET user Zhang A1! /add Add a Zhang user password is a1!
Enter NET user Zhang A2! Change the user's password to a2!
Enter net user Zhang to view users details
Enter NET user Zhang/del
Enter net localgroup Managers/add to create a group managers
Input net Logcalgroup Managers Zhang/add adds the Zhang user to the managers group.
1.1.2 manages Windows Server Core with the Windows Server graphical interface
The following configuration will implement the Webserver management tool, which is installed with Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition, to manage Windows Server Core.
Log on to the Windows Server Core as an administrator.
Enter ipconfig to view the IP address.
Enter netsh firewall set opmode disable shut down Windows Firewall. If you do not close the firewall, you can run the command to open only a specific port:
netsh firewall set opmode enable firewall
netsh firewall add portopening TCP 445 netbios-ds
Enter NET User Administrator a1! Change the password for the administrator administator and the password on the administrator's account on the webserver computer, so that you can successfully connect to Windows Server core webserver using the graphical interface management tool.
On the webserver that installs Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition, the Administrator password a1! Login. Click "Start" à "run", enter MMC, and click "OK".
MMC is the Microsoft Management Console, which allows you to add multiple snap-ins to a single management console for ease of use.
