Use ibus to enter Chinese Characters in Ubuntu 11.04 English environment, and automatically start the input method ibus Introduction

1. Installation

I have installed 11.04 English, and the ibus input method has been installed by default,
Sudo apt-Get install ibus # Install the ibus Input Method Framework. You may be prompted that it has been installed. It doesn't matter.
Sudo apt-Get install ibus-pinyin # Install the Pinyin Input Method of ibus
Sudo apt-Get install ibus-sunpinyin # Install another PinYin Input Method for ibus

First, install ibus with APT-Get. Choose Ubuntu menu> system> Administration> language support. On the language tab, set keyboard input method system to ibus (figure 1 ).

Choose Ubuntu> system> preferences> ibus preferences (renamed as keyboard input methods in Ubuntu 10.10) to start ibus. In the General tab (Figure 2), you can set ibus, for example, the display direction of the candidate word list (candidates
Orientation), enable or disable ibus, next input method, and show icon on system tray in the notification area.

It is not started by default in the English environment. There are two solutions below:
Method 1. Choose system> Administration> language support and set keyboard input method to ibus.

3. Manage input methods

The following uses the Pinyin input method as an example to describe how to add or delete an input method in ibus.

To add the Pinyin input method, use apt-get to install ibus-pinyin. Then, on the input method tab of ibus preferences (figure 3), click Select
An input method. ibus lists available language types. Find Chinese in the language list, select pinyin in the Chinese list, and click Add to add the Pinyin Input Method to the input method list. Select Chinese-pinyin in the input method list, and use the up button to set the Pinyin Input Method to the first item in the list, that is, the default input method. Restart the system and press Ctrl + Space key to activate ibus. If multiple input methods are installed in the system, use Alt + Left shift to switch the input method.

To delete the Pinyin input method, select Chinese-pinyin from the input method list and click Remove. Use apt-get to delete ibus-pinyin.
