Use Nero to burn the boot disk without a soft drive

We need a boot source when burning the boot disk. The Boot source can be a boot floppy disk, an image of the boot floppy disk, or a mobile storage device (Mo machine ). In our national conditions, the vast majority of users will not use the mo machine (price and usage reasons ). Therefore, when you want to burn a boot disk, you need to use a floppy disk as the boot source (there is no image of a floppy disk without a soft drive). But what if our computer does not have a soft drive? (Software drives are not installed on most commercial machines or some newly installed computers, mainly because they are used too little)

Note: The Boot source may be the boot source, not necessarily the DOS boot, but the Nero can only be started in DOS form for the time being.

In this case, we can use the following methods to create a boot disk. However, this method also has some disadvantages, which will be described later.

1. Install a software named ramdisk98 (with the corresponding version in Win2000, the role is to virtualize one part of the memory as a removable disk ).

2. Set "disk type" to "Hard Disk" on the settings interface of the software, and set "disk size" to 5 MB. You can choose the drive letter as needed, other options are optional. After the settings, the restart takes effect.

Although the disk type in ramdisk98 can be set to 1.44mb or 2.88 MB, the two modes cannot be formatted as the boot disk in the system, so they are useless. This may be a software bug.

3. After restarting, a removable disk will be added to my computer. Click "format" to open the format dialog box.

4. During formatting, You must select full formatting and copy the system file. That is, if you select quick formatting, Windows 98 will be forcibly formatted. Because it is virtualized out of memory, the speed is extremely fast, and the whole process is completed in one second.

5. After formatting is complete, four files will be generated, three of which are hidden (no one knows about DIY, right ?).

6. Although the formatted disk already contains files that can be used for startup, we should alsoProgramAfter all, there is 5 MB space available (if you want to add more tools, set the disk size to a greater value in the preceding settings ). Now, the startup source is ready.

7. Open Nero burning-ROM and create a new "Read-Only disc (BOOT)" task. On the "Boot" tab, select "Boot Image Data Source", select "enable logical drive", and select the drive to start the source based on the actual situation. set other options as normal, set and press "new.

8. Drag the file to be burned to the list box and burn it.
