First, IsDate function syntax

IsDate function: Returns a Boolean value that indicates whether an expression can be converted to a date.


IsDate (expression)

The necessary expression parameter is a Variant that contains a date expression or a string expression, which can be determined as a date or time.


IsDate returns True If the expression is a date, or can be recognized as a valid date, otherwise it returns FALSE. In Microsoft Windows, the range of valid dates is between January 1, 100 ad December 31, 9999, and the valid ranges vary from operating systems.

Second, the use of IsDate function

The following code uses the IsDate function to determine whether an expression can be converted to a date format.

Dim mydate, Yourdate, Nodate, MyCheck

MyDate = "February 12, 1969"

Yourdate = #3/11/69#

Nodate = "Volkswagen Computer"

MyCheck = IsDate (mydate) ' returns TRUE.

MyCheck = IsDate (yourdate) ' returns TRUE.

MyCheck = IsDate (nodate) ' returns FALSE.
