First step:

Create a new file, the size is 1600x1200px, the specific setting parameters are as follows:

Figure 01

Step Two:

Open the material 01 "Fall Park" and place it on your canvas. Because the author uses this material picture the size and the canvas size is same, therefore, this material picture will tile the entire canvas. If you want to try your own picture, it's best to cut your own picture size to the size of the canvas. When you drag fall Park into the canvas, drag the corner point, and hold down shift to resize the picture. Select the background layer and use "ctrl+e" to merge the original background layer with the footage.

Figure 02

Step Three:

The next step is to create the 3D text. Open the material 02 "English letter" in Photoshop. Here, you need to think about what words you want to create with the letters and what colors to choose for them. The author chooses to use the word "Leaf". Use the Lasso tool to select the first letter of the word, and then copy and paste it onto your canvas.

Figure 03

Then name the layer and I'll name it "letter L." Now we need to get rid of the white background under the L letter. Here, use the Magic Wand tool, select the L letter, and click on the white background. Press DELETE, here should be careful not to check the parameters set in the "Sample all layers."

Figure 04

Here, select the letter L layer and use the Free Transform tool (ctrl+t). In the process of narrowing the letter L, you need to hold down the SHIFT key to ensure that the letter L is not deformed.

If you want to change the color of the letters, you can use adjustment layers (such as color balance, optional color, etc.). This author will be in the 15th step to make a detailed explanation. Because I am more satisfied with the color of L-letters, so the author does not do color adjustment, but directly to create a 3D stereo text effects.

Figure 05

Fourth Step:

To create a 3D stereo-text effect, use the 3D interface in Photoshop CS6. Select the letter L layer and click 3d>new 3D Extrusion. , Photoshop asks if you want to switch to the workspace and choose OK to go to Photoshop's 3D working interface. First, we have to determine where the letters are located on the ground plane, to do this, select the scene in the 3D panel and adjust the position of the ground plane using the icons in the options bar.

Figure 06

This attempts to place the letters in the same position as the ground plane. If you use a background image different from the author, you should choose the correct location of the ground plane.

Figure 07

Fifth Step:

Here you will make the texture of the alphabet. Open the Material 03 "concrete texture" and we will merge it with the front of the letter. Set the parameter to 500px, get 500x500 Square, the author selects the region in the following figure. Once you have selected the appropriate area, press ENTER to save the texture and name it "Texture_front."

Figure 08

Sixth step:

In this step, you add the selected texture material to the letter. In the 3D panel, select the properties of the Front inflation Material and 3D objects. This panel will open automatically when you start the working interface. Locate the Bump option in the property settings and select load texture to load the texture_front.

Figure 09

The bump setting is designed to adjust the texture effect, and you can set the desired effect by moving the slider. The author sets it to 20%. In addition, you need to adjust the texture position and size. To do this, you can use edit UV properties. The main point here is to adjust the vertical, horizontal parameters, you can arbitrarily adjust to the effect you like.

Figure 10

7th step:

Next, you need to add the same texture to the extruded part. To do this, select extrusion material on the 3D panel, and then load the "texture_front" texture with the same bump parameter setting.

Figure 11

In this step, the author adjusts the bump value to 25%, the same method as in step sixth. In addition, the author will be squeezed the color of this layer into pink, so you can clearly see the three-dimensional changes. The specific parameters are designed as follows:

Figure 12

Eighth Step:

Next, is to adjust the position of the letter. With the alphabet selected in the 3D panel, you can see that three axes will appear as a reference to the letter center. Here, you can rotate, resize, and move objects, and there are icons on the axes that correspond to them.

Figure 13

In addition, it is convenient to use this method to move the target on multiple planes at the same time. Place the move cursor over the edge of the cube, and the area will be highlighted as yellow.

Figure 14

When you move the cursor to the side, the motion of the cube moves along the plane (it will also be highlighted as yellow). If you want the letters to be in the horizontal plane, do not let the letters move along the vertical axis. Notice here that the letters have risen or fallen, and here goes to the 3D panel > to its target, the letters will again move along the surface of the axis and rotate along the coordinate origin. If you don't know if you return to the original position, you can simply set the angle of rotation of each axis to 0.

Figure 15

Now you know how to set the 3D object position. Now put the letters in your favor and adjust the size if necessary. The figure below is the author's diagram:

Figure 16

Nineth Step:

In this step, we will continue to adjust the letter shape. We will adjust the degree of extrusion, and in the next step, we will adjust the degree of tilt. The grid section is used to adjust the thickness of the letters. Of course, the drawing depth of the parameters of the design interest is relatively large, the author set it 250, but you can set according to your preferences for other values, in addition, the parameter settings will also affect the shadow, here should be noted.

Figure 17

Tenth step:

In this step, we will adjust the tilt. Select Properties >mesh section, set the parameters as shown below. You can set it according to your preferences.

Figure 18

Next, select the CAP area, which is set as follows:

Figure 19

11th Step:

Now it's time to set the color of the extrusion layer. To change its color, select "Extrusion Material" on the 3D panel and set the property value. The main hue of the extrusion layer is set to diffuse reflection, the color chosen by the author is #f25646, and the specific parameters are set as follows:

Figure 20

Of course, you can also try other settings, such as specular (which will affect sharpness/contrast textures) and illumination (it affects the brightness of the side edges). The author chooses the following value, the mirror color is #645858, the luminous color is #290816.

Figure 21

12th Step:

This step is to create a light source. First go to the 3D panel and select the first light source (already in the panel)--Infinite light 1. Here, we're going to use it to set the main light source. Suppose that the main light source is the sun, and its position is in the upper-right corner, and if you are using your own background image, then you have to define the main light source (note the direction of the shadow of the person and object, etc.). Left-click the source and rotate it, the shadow position will roughly appear in the lower left corner.

Figure 22

The following figure is the light source coordinates and the color setting (the color is #ffebcf), as far as the main light source coordinates, you had better write down first. Because the primary light coordinate setting for all subsequent letters is the same as the letter's setting.

Figure 23

13th Step:

In this step, we add another light source, so the letters don't look too dark. Click the Add new Scene light icon at the bottom of the 3D panel and select the New infinite Light.

Figure 24

The author chooses the following light source setting (color is #ffc871)

Figure 25

14th Step:

Here, the first letter of work is basically done. In the next step, we'll fix the color of the letter strokes. Of course, if you like black, then you can skip this step directly.

Figure 26

We will edit the texture in the two places of the letter, which is the front expansion material and the front bevel material. When you choose to edit textures, Photoshop will remind you that these changes will be applied everywhere. Click OK here, then select new Layer > Optional color, select the black Channel and adjust the stroke color. The following illustration, for example, turns red on the stroke:

Figure 27

After you finish working on the texture editing, save and close the file. Then switch to the working interface to see that the texture has been updated.
