Use "Management Tools" to optimize the Operating System

Win2000/XP "Management Tools" are a kind of useful system tools that come with the system, it can modify and manage hard disk partitions, passwords, processes, data, and important parameters of a series of system operations. With its usage, You can optimize the operating system to the maximum extent, making computer operations more convenient.

1. Manage Hard Disks

To delete hard disks, add drive letters, partitions, and so on, you will surely think of using the "pqmagic" tool, in fact, it is faster and more convenient to use computer management in "Management Tools.

Click "Control Panel> Management Tools> Computer Management". In the displayed operation box, click "Storage> disk management" in the left column. The parameters of the hard disk and optical drive are clear in the right column, 1.

Delete a logical drive. Right-click the drive to be deleted and choose delete logical drive 2 in the displayed dialog box.

After deletion, the logical drive becomes available. If you want to create another logical drive, right-click the available space and choose create logical drive from the shortcut menu. 2. Restore the Personal Configuration in Win2000/XP

3. Disable the Messenger Service

To stop these "harassment" information, click "Administrative Tools> services", find the "messenger" item, right-click "stop", and choose "7.

4. Accelerate your Win2000/XP

(1) Stop unnecessary services. There are many default system services in Win2000/XP. However, there are some services you don't need. Stopping them can speed up system startup, reduce system and memory usage, and enable Win2000/XP acceleration.

If you are not a LAN user, click "Administrative Tools> Services" to stop the following services.
Alerter-sends an alarm to the Administrator when the system fails.
ClipBook -- allows users in the network to view your clipboard.
Computer Browser -- this service controls network neighbors and other network functions.
Messenger-send and receive information on the network.
Network DDE-manage Dynamic Data Exchange in the network.
Network dde dsdm -- same as above.
Server -- used to manage files and print servers in the network.
If you do not have any peripherals such as printers or upss, click "Administrative Tools> Services" to stop the following services.
Uninterruptible power supply -- manage ups.
Print Spooler -- manage printers.
If you do not need any extended applications, click "Administrative Tools> Services" to stop the following services.
Fax Service-send or receive faxes.
FTP Publishing Service -- used as an FTP server.
IIS Admin Service -- used as a web server. Is the system running and startup speed much faster after these services are stopped.

(2) Clear log files. Log Files record each time a host is switched on, running, or system error occurs. However, the size of log files increases and the system startup speed is greatly affected. You can specify the log file size and processing method. Click "management tools> Event Viewer", 9.

The "ApplicationProgramLogs, security logs, and system logs ". Right-click any type of log and select "properties". In the dialog box shown in 10, you can set the size of the log file and the processing method when the log reaches the maximum value.
