What is Google gadgets "?
If you have customized an iGoogle page, you will know what it is. Every Google gadget is a single network application, such as YouTube, stock, clock, and News RSS. You can add it to your iGoogle homepage to fully enjoy multiple network applications.
Have you ever thought about adding these useful things to your desktop? With Screenlets 0.1, everything becomes possible.
1. Install Screenlets 0.1 and the dependency package
To use Google gadgets, you must install the latest Screenlets 0.1, which is a milestone version, and the previous version is 0.0.14.
Download the deb package for Ubuntu 7.10 and install it.

Start the terminal and install a dependency package. For Google gadgets, you need to use gtk1_embed:
Sudo apt-get install python-gnome2-extras
2. Install Google gadgets
After the installation is complete, open Screenlets Manager. By default, it comes with a Google tool: YouTube. You can select on the right and click "Lanuch/Add" on the left to enable it.
To Install a custom Google Widget, click Install on the left. In the displayed dialog box, select "Convert Web Widget ":
After confirmation, the conversion page is displayed. Google Gadgets is selected by default, and Go to web is clicked. Go to Google's "Google gadgets for your web page" site, select a gadgets you like, click "add to your web page", make appropriate adjustments, and click "Get code ", paste the code into the middle column of the conversion interface, and then name it to create a Google tool!
