Use the actual physical hard disk partition in VMware. After the virtual system is started, the partition will be locked until the virtual system is shut down.

I don't know the risks of using a physical hard disk partition as a virtual machine partition. I have never dared to do this because I have no redundant hard disks.

Fortunately, I found that the USB flash drive can also be used as a partition of VMware. Then I made a small adventure: I chose to use individual partitions when the virtual system is shut down according to the online practice, use the USB disk partition as the Virtual Machine hard disk.

After the virtual system is started, the drive letter is set to allow read/write access. The original files in the USB flash disk are not lost.

Switch back to the real system and find that the USB flash drive is inaccessible. Then I shut down the virtual system and the real system re-accessed the USB flash drive. No problem, the original file is not lost.
