The connection via 1394 is very complicated and cannot be found due to driver issues in Linux.

Therefore, this method is not recommended.

If you want to use this method, take the 1394 card of PCMCIA as an example.

First, you must disable the iPod and connect the ipod to the 1394 PC Card.

After the linux operating system is started, insert the connected 1394 card, and then dmesg can see

Ieee1394, ohci1394, and sbp2 modules have been loaded and the ipod partition has been scanned.

(Note: For scsi support, you must enable mulitple LUN support. Otherwise, you cannot scan the storage devices on the 1394 Interface. Fortunately, you are not allowed to use ide-scsi for the recorder. Otherwise, there will be eight more optical drives:-D)

With this information, you can mount the mapped hard disk device to a directory.

Then you can use gtkpod.

After use:

You must unmount the mounted partition.

You must manually uninstall the sbp2 module.

Only after the sbp2 module is uninstalled can the ipod screen be displayed and the connection can be disconnected.

Then, remove the ipod.
