The current LAN is very popular, and often encounter the following conditions:

A new client is added to the LAN, but the hub port is full, adding a hub to a computer is too uneconomical. What to do? Windows XP's "Bridge" feature comes in handy, but a prerequisite is that a Windows XP system client with a dual NIC installed on the local area network is required. Here's how to implement this:

In order to easily differentiate between the description object, the following will be installed with a dual network card client called "Customer a", the new client is called "Customer B", the specific connection and setup method as follows:

Assume that the LAN segment used for the local area network is 192.168.0.x.

First, make sure that customer a has access to the resources and the Internet on your local area network, and that you have a dual network card configured with a network adapter IP address of 192.168.0.1 connected to the hub, and a "Client B" network card with an IP address of 192.168.0.2. Open Network and dial-up connections, and rename the local area connection that originally connected to the LAN to local connection-host. Make another local connection the same as "local connection-Customer", and then connect the "Local connection-Customer" network card and the NIC on the "Customer B" machine directly with the twisted pair (dual-machine).

Next, set the network properties on the client B machine. Specify an empty IP address and computer name, such as: 192.168.0.3, computer name: Client B, other settings such as subnet mask, default gateway, DNS server, and client a machine are the same.

Now if "Customer a" and "Customer B" are able to access resources to each other, then it's half done, and the next thing you need to do is connect the local connection-host and local connections-Customers with Windows XP "Network Bridge."

On the client a machine, enter the network and Dial-up Connections window, select the "Local Area Connection-customer" and "Local Area Connection-host" Right click, click the "Bridge" command in the right-click menu, the system starts to bridge the two connections, and if all the above settings are correct, the bridge will be successfully enabled. A "Network Bridge" icon will now appear. Right-click the icon to select Properties and set IP properties in the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) attribute (figure). For example: 192.168.0.4. OK, now the "Customer B" machine can also access other computers and the Internet LAN, so that in the local area network dual-machine shared with a hub port sharing internet.
