We can use many of Photoshop's tools to eliminate the background, which is what we normally call the PS cutout. Although there are many PS pull tools, but if you use the PS Eraser tool, it will be easier to eliminate the background. The PS Eraser Tool makes it easy to automatically identify edges and select them. In this PS tutorial, you will learn how to use the background eraser tool to erase the original background sky on the material and replace it with a more layered blue sky. This PS tutorial is not very difficult, very suitable for PS small white Learning and practice, take a look at it:

Let's look at the original picture and the final effect chart first!

Step 1: Choose the practice image

Choose a background picture that you like and open it to extract the background. In this PS tutorial, there will be two trees and blue sky as the background, but you can also use the techniques in the tutorial to apply to other image processing.

Step 2: How to use the background eraser tool

Although the tool we're going to use is called a "background eraser," it actually uses much more than an eraser. It works more like a color eraser than its name. The following first select our tool to operate this time, you can use the shortcut key shift+e or the toolbar directly selected.

Figure 02

When you select a good background eraser, the toolbar options follow the changes, and the mouse turns into a circle plus a cross. The color within the cross is what we want to remove, and any color in the circle will be removed. The right mouse click can eject the tool's Options menu.

Figure 03

When operating, you need to maintain a higher degree of hardness, because it makes the edge and background less easy to determine. Change the size of the radius as needed, and keep the approximate 1~50% distance so that you can create a smooth and continuous eraser line.

Figure 04

In the Setup Panel, select the sampling option once, and this time we will only sample once, and then erase the more colorful parts of the material. The set limit is continuous and the tolerance is 50%. Set as shown in the following figure.

Step 3: Start erasing

Randomly select a point in the sky, then drag the mouse to eliminate.

Figure 05

From the image above, we can see that there is no elimination between the leaves and the branches of the background, but we can use the "limit" option to further set the background eraser. In the Setup Panel, the settings are limited to discontinuous and then operate like the front face, and see what's different here.

Figure 06

Figure 07

As shown in the figure above, the discontinuous option allows us to eliminate areas that we just can't erase, like between branches and leaves.

Step 4: Other options

This tutorial, the general use of the default 50% tolerance, this setting generally come out of the effect will be better, but if the following situation does not worry, we can be resolved through the tolerance settings.

Figure 08

The picture above indicates that the background color is a bit similar to the color of the image to be pulled out, in which case the level of tolerance will be lowered. If the background color is far away from the color of the cutout, the level of tolerance is lowered accordingly. After setting the appropriate tolerances, the effect of using the eraser is shown in the following illustration.

Figure 09

Step 5: More Options

If you change the tolerances but still do not solve the background eraser, let's try a strong foreground color option.

Figure 10

By selecting the Protect foreground color option, you do not eliminate the selected colors (click ALT + to select). The following is an example of how to protect foreground color options.

Figure 11

Figure 12

Step 6: Different background colors

Select a color, use the background eraser tool, and get results as shown in the following figure.

Figure 13

Although the background is blue, but there are different shades of blue, and even some white clouds in it. To handle this situation, you can repeatedly select a new color elimination or set the sampling mode to continuous. Set as shown in the following figure.

Figure 14

But this method is not very recommended. Because if the color is close to the main body (the tutorial is the tree), it's very easy to eliminate the places we don't want to erase. So, take advantage of the previous sampling method, repeat until the elimination of the removal of clean.

Figure 15

Step 7: Last

After removing the background, we have two choices: Extract the trees and use them in the image processing, or replace the background that we just deleted with the other footage. Download the good Sky gradient material, then choose your favorite picture replacement. The effect is shown in the following illustration.

The effect is as follows:
