In LINUX, use the Windows Printer-general Linux technology-Linux technology and application information. The following is a detailed description. There are at least three methods for LINUX to Access Windows printers: LPD, SMB, and IPP. The first is the old-fashioned method, and the third (Printing via Internet Printing) is said to be the most convenient, but it does not seem to provide this function on common XP. So we use SMB to print it through SAMBA. The implementation process is not difficult.
Step 1. WINDOW settings.
1) set the WINDOW printer to allow sharing:
Control Panel-> Printer and Fax-> select printer-> Sharing-> Share this Printer to write down the name of the shared printer.
2) Check/set the Firewall of the WINDOW to open to the shared printer.
3) Add a printing service to the UNIX system:
Control Panel-> Add and Remove components-> Add and Remove Window components-> Other network and printer services-> Print Services for Unix
Step 2. Fedora linux settings.
System-> Administration-> Printing-> New Printer
Enter the Printer name-> Forward, and Select Window Printer via Samba in the Select Connection column.
Enter / / <在1)中输入的打印机名>
Enter the WINDOW username and password, and use VERIFY to check the password. If the password is verified, continue. Perform other steps as instructed by the software.
After the installation is complete, check with Test Printer Page.
Check with the common print command:
Lpr-P <打印机名> <文件名>
