Fault description: A company builds a WSUS server, but it is always connected to Microsoft's Windows Update Server during manual upgrade in a newly added client computer Windows XP system. Why can't I download updates from a local WSUS server? What should I do?
Solution: although the WSUS server is set up in the LAN, the default configuration of the client computer does not know the server. Only by using the Edit Group Policy can the download and update link be directed to the WSUS server on the LAN. According to Microsoft's official website, the SUS client has been built in Windows 2000 with SP3, Windows XP with SP1, Windows Server 2003, and the latest Windows XP with SP2, therefore, installation is not required. Only Windows 2000 with SP2 and earlier versions include Windows 2000 with SP2) and Windows XP that are not upgraded to SP1 need to install the client. Therefore, you only need to find the computer without the built-in SUS client and execute the downloaded "Wuau22chs. msi" client program for installation. To edit a policy in Windows XP, follow these steps:
Step 2: click the "Start/Run" menu items, type the "gpedit. msc" command in the "open" edit box, and press enter to open the "Group Policy" window. In the left pane, expand the "Computer Configuration" option, right-click the "manage template" option, and execute "Add/delete template ".
Step 2: click Add in the "Add/delete template" dialog box to open the "Policy template" dialog box. Select the "wuau. adm" template in the template list and click the "open" button.
TIPS: "wuau. adm" is the template file for setting "Windows Update" in the Group Policy. If this file is not in the Group Policy, the client cannot download and install the update file. Therefore, you must copy the downloaded template file to the \ Windows \ inf folder.
Step 2: In the "Add/delete template" dialog box, you can see the added policy template. Click "close" to close the dialog box.
Step 2: return to the "Group Policy" dialog box, expand the "Computer Configuration/management template/Windows Components" directory, and click the "Windows Update" option.
Step 2: double-click the "Configure Automatic update" option in the right pane. In the "Configure Automatic update attributes" dialog box, select "enabled. You can set the update method as needed. For example, if you select "20081203 automatic download and scheduled installation", you must set the "scheduled installation date" and "scheduled installation time" respectively ".
Step 2: click the "next setting" button and select "enabled" in the "specify enterprise Internet Microsoft Update service location attributes" dialog box. Enter the WSUS server URL in the "set Intranet Internet update service for enterprise" and "set Intranet Internet statistics server for enterprise" Edit boxes, the server URL is the internal network address of the WSUS server computer, and "/SUSAdmin" is added to the server URL. In this example, http: // 10.115.223.1/SUSAdmin is used ). Click OK.
