Use VirtualBox in Mac OS X to install and configure Windows XP Virtual Machine and osvirtualbox
Preparations
Install Windows XP in VirtualBox
I will not list the detailed steps. Here I will only focus on the key configuration parameters.
- Select "VDI disk image" for the Virtual Disk type, which is the best supported by VirtualBox;
- It is recommended that the disk capacity be greater than 20 GB.
- Name the Virtual Machine. Assume the name is winxp-vbox (this name will be used later ~)
- If the number of processors is greater than 1, check "enable I/O APIC" under system> motherboard"
- On the port> USB device tab, select Enable USB 2.0 (EHCI) controller"
Install the VirtualBox daemon Guest Additions in the Virtual Machine
After the virtual machine operating system is installed, start the system for the first time, select Devices> Insert Guest Additions CD Image under the Virtual Machine menu, and then install the daemon in the virtual machine system according to the wizard. Be sure to install this program. It is an intermediate medium for the VM to communicate with the host.
Support for host hardware
Steps to enable the VM to support calling the host camera
Other problems
1. How to enable write operations on the NTFS file system for Mac OS X?
I have tried all the methods on the Internet. The command line methods of mount and mount_ntfs do not work in the Mavericks system, so I am still spending money to buy a software solution. I am using Tuxera NTFS.
2. How to remove the connection between the host camera and the virtual machine?
When you want to use the Skype or Facetime of the host for video chat, you need to first release the camera from the virtual machine. Run the following command to remove the relationship between the camera and the virtual machine:
VBoxManage controlvm "<Virtual Machine Name>" webcam detach <camera ID>
How to Use virtualbox to install Windows virtual machines on Mac OS X 1065
First, make sure that you have created a new virtual hard disk and mounted it to the virtual machine. Then you need to set the boot from the optical drive or from the usb device in the virtual machine, and then install xp or win7, no bootable medium found indicates that you have not installed the system or attached a hard disk with a system. We recommend that you use vmware or parrallel. virtualbox has a moderate performance.
Windows xp is installed with a vmvm on mac OS x.
What machine are you using? Does it not support hardware virtualization technology ?? You can use the next CPU detection tool to check whether the CPU on the motherboard is not supported or hardware virtualization is not enabled.
