Use vmware7 to install a Mac OS VM

To study some things, you need to use the Mac operating system. So I thought about how to install a virtual machine on my 32-bit Dell 630 notebook. After some exploration, I finally installed it successfully. The installation experience is recorded below.

1. Software preparation

  • Prepare vmware workstation 7 for download and install http://downloads.vmware.com/cn/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_workstation/7_0 on official website

  • Prepare the Mac operating system CD. I used version 10.5.6 and engraved a disk.

2. Check whether the PC supports virtualization.

Download a securable.exe tool from the Internet to detect CPU virtualization support.
By default, my current version does not turn on the virtualization support switch. You need to restart the computer and set it in the BIOS to enabled for virtualization-related items in the CPU category. Note that some local restarts take effect, and some local ones need to be shut down before they take effect (if you need to shut down, the virtualization configuration items in BIOS should be described ).
Restart the host and check again, as shown in.

3. Start Installation

  • Create a virtual machine

Use VMware to create a new VM (MAC) and select a CD for installation. The operating system is FreeBSD, the disk is 20 GB, and the memory is adjusted to 2 GB.

  • Go to the installation page

When a new VM is started, the following error message is displayed: System Config File '/COM. App. boot. slist' not found.

Solution: restart the VM with VMware. In the previous interface before this error occurs, press the F8 key as prompted on the screen. This is very important, so you can go to the following screen to select the CD and continue.

However, this error was reported later. It was dizzy:
A virtual CPU has entered the shutdown State .........

Solution: Find the vmx file corresponding to the VM and change it:
Guestos = "Darwin", shut down VMWare, restart and enable it, and check the VM properties. At this time, we found that the OS version configured for this VM has changed from FreeBSD to Mac OS X Server 10.5, see.

After that, start the installation interface. I just stopped for a long time on the gray Apple interface.

  • Installation Process

Easy to install. Follow the wizard.
When selecting the target file, the disk cannot be found.

Later I found that there was a menu on it, and I needed to use the "disk tool" to process it.

Select "disk"

The disk can be viewed only after the operation is complete.

  • After installation, start Mac

After the installation is complete, the VM will be automatically restarted. At this time, the CD can be taken out.
However, at startup, the operating system not found was not found, and it almost crashed.

Solution: after searching online, find and download a Darwin. ISO image file (about 25 MB), which can be guided in this case.
Shut down the VM and modify its attributes so that its optical drive can load the ISO file, as shown in. Click the "advanced" button to change the visual device node to SCSI.

After the preceding modification, you can access the system.

OK.
