Use vmwarevm to install Solaris 11.3 In x86 architecture

Solaris is an operating system developed by sun/Oracle. It supports the x86 architecture and the iSCSI architecture and is mainly used in the server field. In actual use, it is generally connected through a terminal and installed on the server through a command line.

On this page, we can see that there are three types of installation images. The first type is Text Installer, which has no graphic interface. The second type is Live Media installation, which has a graphical interface and can experience some features without installation. The third type is the automatic installation Image, which is automatically installed after the server starts the Image. Each category is divided into two types: The iSCSI architecture and the x86 architecture. Servers use a large number of Intel® server architecture. Generally, the general PC architecture is x86. Each architecture is divided into a USB image and an ISO image. This is two different installation methods. Select as needed.

Here we select the ISO image under Live Media, that is, x86 Live Media marked in red box in the figure. To download the image, You need to log on to the Oracle account and register one for free.

Open vmwarevm

File --> Create a VM

After installation, You must select the default keyboard and language, especially the language. Do not select Chinese. Chinese garbled characters are frequently asked. You can use the default method for most options.

Press ENTER or wait by default to enter the installation page.

Select the keyboard mode and press Enter.

Select the language here and press Enter. Do not select Chinese.

You do not need to enter the password here. The graphic interface is automatically displayed.

Select Install Oracle Solaris to start Installation

The subsequent process is to click Next. We recommend that you change the time zone to Shanghai.

The time zone is changed to Shanghai. Just click the place in Shanghai.

The password cannot be a pure letter, as long as there is a number, here is set to solarisadmin1

Click Next.

The information you Just configured is displayed here. check whether there are any errors. If there are any errors, go back and modify them.

Start Installation

In this case, the installer automatically opens a page and closes it.

Click Reboot to restart
