Use your quick start bar

Each icon in the Quick Start column represents a program on the computer. You can click the corresponding icon to quickly start the application. By default, Windows Media Player icons, IE browser icons, OE icons, and desktop icons are displayed in Windows. After installing some software, we will also add the Quick Start bar icon.

1. Q: after a friend once used my computer, I don't know what's going on. The Quick Start bar is gone. I haven't found it for a long time. What can I do?

A: Don't worry. Your friend must have accidentally hidden it. You only need to right-click the blank area of the taskbar, and select or uncheck "toolbar> Quick Start" to display and hide the Quick Start bar.

2. Q: Can I manually add or delete projects in the Quick Start column in addition to the Quick Start column that comes with the system?

A: Yes. For example, if you want to put the shortcut of the Notepad program into the Quick Start bar, first find the location of the Notepad program (C: windowsnotepad.exe.pdf, and then drag notepad.exe to the Quick Start bar with the right key, when a vertical bar is displayed, you can click "create shortcut in current position" in the shortcut menu to add the shortcut.

If the object you want to add is a shortcut, you can drag it with the left button. Take adding notepad as an example. Open "Start Menu/Program/attachment" and drag the notepad icon to the Quick Start bar with the left mouse button.

To delete a project, click the icon and right-click it and select Delete from the shortcut menu ".

3. Q: I accidentally moved the Quick Start column to the right of the taskbar. Is there any way to bring it back to the left?

A: If you want to move it to the left side, you just need to move the mouse over the move bar in the left-side taskbar. At this time, the mouse pointer will show a double arrow, and then press and hold the left button, move the taskbar to the right, and the Quick Start column will return to the left.

4. Q: How can I change the positions of icons in the Quick Start column for ease of operation?

A: You can drag the icon with the left or right-click, and loosen your hand when the vertical bar appears in the proper position.

5. Q: The desktop display function in the Quick Start column is very useful, but I deleted it by mistake. How can I add it?

A: Open the D: \ Documents ents and Settings \ Administrator \ Application Data \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Quick Launch folder in the Quick Start column. Create a text file and add the following content:

After saving, rename the file to "show desktop. scf. (Note: It doesn't matter if you don't have it. You can replace it with "Windows key + D". If you don't believe it, try it !)

6. Q: I used the "use Windows XP simulation interface" function of "Windows optimization master", but the icons in the Quick Start column are messy. What should I do?

A: The icons in the Quick Start column are sometimes changed to other icons, which means the ShellIconCache file in the system is damaged. It is best to start to safe mode (the ShellIconCache file is hidden, so you need to switch to the display mode of all files), find it in the Windows directory, and safely delete this file, then restart to normal mode, and your icon should be able to restore to normal. Alternatively, you can use "Windows optimization master" to remove the simulation interface function of Windows XP.

7. Q: Can URLs also be placed in the Quick Start bar of Windows?

A: If you want to visit a website frequently and do not want to set it as the homepage, such as the E-mail receiving page on the Web interface. You can put it here by holding down the "e" icon in front of the title bar of the webpage with the left mouse button, dragging it down to the quick start bar, and then releasing it.

8. Q: Can I use the Quick Start bar to "one-click shutdown" the mouse?

A: First, create a shortcut on the desktop. In the command line window, enter maid user.exe, exitwindows, click Next, name it shutdown, and click Finish ". Then, drag the icon to the Quick Start bar with the left button. If you want to shut down later, you only need to click the icon in the Quick Start bar and shut down immediately. This is really convenient (note: this tip applies to Windows 98 ).
