Sybase's PowerBuilder 7.0 is a new generation of development tools for Web applications that can be used to build, manage, and submit Web applications, and DataWindow technology allows developers to leverage existing powerbuilder logic Resubmit them to the thin client or HTML
JavaScript client, easily integrates standard Web components and business logic, and is tightly integrated with enterprise application server for easy development, management, commissioning, and submission.
A perfect web development environment
PowerBuilder 7.0 integrates Powersite 7.0 technology, Enterprise Application Server provides a professional web development environment, whether you want to build a stand-alone Web application, Or to combine DataWindow with other components to develop complex web applications that can be exploited by developers.
Powersite 7.0 is ideal for enterprise Web application developers who can build, manage, and submit Web applications in the same environment. Powersite not only provides the ability to quickly build large web pages, but also provides Web developers with the ability to easily integrate and extend their Web applications.
Create a standard web editor for a page
This HTML editor is capable of fast enterprise web development. It has three ways of editing: Wsiywyg (WYSIWYG page), original code, and structure. Pre-display mode allows you to test the current page you are editing and the scripting code that executes the client at any time. You can switch between these modes and use the way you like. It also includes an integrated style editor that makes it easy to create inline styles, page-based table styles, and integrated CSS files.
Powersite provides a very handy feature-the system tree-to better organize the program structure and improve the progress of web application development.
To make HTML and scripts easier to generate, Powersite supports DTC (Design-time Controls). HTML and scripting statements can sometimes be complex or have a high rate of repetition, and DTC is like a wizard and more powerful, and it helps generate HTML or JavaScript as needed by the developer. When using Powersite DTC, a property sheet appears in the editing interface, and you can edit its properties to automatically generate the code you need.
Component assembly and site management
Powersite allows assemblies to be assembled in PowerBuilder, POWERJ, or other tools, as long as the tools are IDE and have an editing environment.
• Drag and drop client components, such as applet (applets) or ActiveX controls, to the editing interface. The system tree displays all components and the Jaguar servers that are available on the local machine. All of the methods, properties, and events are also displayed on the screen, and they can all be dragged to the Script Editor.
• Drag and drop server-side components that can be done in the Jaguar IDE and automatically generate scripts that invoke them. You can use PowerBuilder to establish business logic components to commit to Jaguar servers, or you can develop HTML pages in Powersite to call these components.
• Using the DataWindow component, use the HTML DataWindow and DataWindow DTC to use logical components from existing client/server applications in new Web applications.
HTML DataWindow is a new technology that combines thin customer application technology with DataWindow technologies, enabling you to manipulate and edit data in the data display interface, as in client/server applications, and to perform DataWindow's outstanding features.
You can integrate existing Web sites into PowerBuilder applications. Using Powersite, you can put existing site inputs (import) into the Component Manager and place them under the Powersite version control and reuse the new HTML
DataWindow to enhance their capabilities.
Submission of Web applications
The page service component of the Enterprise Application Server (Enterprise application server) is called the PowerDynamo. Powersite can submit applications to the page server, executing server-side scripts such as PowerDynamo and Microsoft
Asp. In addition, if the server script is written in Powersite Common Object model, the same page can be submitted to any page server.
Powersite can convert pages into a server-independent pattern and generate the appropriate scripts, so they can run on any server. In heterogeneous and traditional environments, it can save a lot of time because Page writes can be committed to different servers at once.
Powersite can also be submitted directly to any Web server via FTP and does not require page conversion.
Since each PowerBuilder 7.0 contains a development version of Easerver, you can test your application on a single computer before submitting it as a formal use, or you can do it with a development team. By submitting to PowerDynamo, you can debug client and server-side JavaScript in Powersite, or you can set breakpoints and step-by-trace code to clearly see execution.
PowerBuilder 7.0 provides a comprehensive and integrated web development environment for building enterprise Web applications. Powersite the traditional client/server application development environment with the web-based Web Distributed component environment, using existing technologies such as PowerBuilder for the development of new Web applications, providing developers with more easy-to-use tools.
