Talking about sharing the Internet, if the number of machines is relatively small, usually with the system from the Internet Connection Sharing, if more machines, it will choose the proxy server mode. In fact, in addition to the use of Windows 2000 with the address translation (NAT) can also easily handle the LAN sharing Internet access, but also allows direct access to the intranet resources from the interne!
I. Description of the situation
Before we really set it up, it is necessary to give a description of the relevant situation of the LAN. On the NAT server must be installed two network card, a network card connected to the Internet, a network card connected to the intranet switches, hub and other equipment. For easy identification, two cards can be renamed as Extranet and intranet respectively.
The intranet network card IP address is set to 192.168.0.1, the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, and then the IP address of the external network card is set to the IP of the service provider, such as 210.59.60.5, gateway, DNS, etc. according to the actual situation.
Tips: If the intranet computer than 254, can be recalculated to obtain a new subnet mask, in addition the IP address of the intranet card can be modified according to the actual situation, but generally our intranet IP will choose 192.168.*.* Network segment.
Finally, the IP address of the client is set to 192.168.0.*, according to the computer to change the number of *, the gateway set to the server intranet IP address is 192.168.0.1, the mask is 255.255.255.0.
Ii. Add NAT Service protocol
The NAT protocol is not added by default and requires us to install it manually. Open Control Panel, go to the Administrative Tools folder, find Routing and Remote Access in it, and double-click to open it. Select "Server Status" on the left side of the open window and right-click, and select "Rebuild Server List" in the pop-up menu (see Figure 1).
