Using OBackup to create remote Oracle data backup

With the continuous development of the information age, information systems and data are becoming more and more important to enterprises, companies, and units, and their dependence on information systems and core data is also growing, how to ensure the security of production data is particularly important. I believe that many enterprises or companies use the Oracle EXP/EXPD tool to implement Dual Backup of local disks and tapes for production data, it ensures the security management of core data. The backup data is also transmitted to other places for backup through FTP.

However, as enterprises or companies become more dependent on information systems, the data recovery time requirement will be shorter and shorter. This method is backed up using EXP/EXPD tools, it cannot meet the requirements of real-time backup. In the restoration process, the environment is demanding and the restoration process is cumbersome. In addition, part of the data is definitely lost. The amount of data lost is related to the backup frequency. The RMAN backup method recommended by Oracle can be used for real-time hot backup, and the data at the moment of system damage can be restored during restoration. However, to use RMAN for real-time remote backup, you must use a third-party backup tool, the investment in establishing a complete remote backup system that supports real-time data recovery is generally very expensive.

Based on actual work, this article makes full use of the company's existing hardware conditions, and uses the cost-effective OBackup backup software to build an Oracle Data Remote Backup recovery system platform. The new investment is about 2000 yuan.

I. System Structure

At present, our company has two sets of OA and logistics systems. The Oracle10G Database is installed on it and runs on the IBM X3850 server. Install the OBackup backup software BackupAgent client on the two systems. Then I used an IBM X3650 server with relatively idle resources in our company to add two new 1 TB hard disks as RAID 1 images. Install the OBackup backup software MasterServer and MediaServer components. The BackupAgent component transmits the backup data to the newly added hard disk of IBM X3650. The system structure is as follows:

 

Ii. Backup Policy

At present, the OA system has more than 10 GB Data and the logistics system has more than 20 GB Data. On the OBackup console, you can set up the OA system and logistics system to start full backup at on Sunday, and perform Incremental backup at on Monday, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth nights, the backup data is retained for one month.

Iii. Automatic Backup

After the Backup Settings are complete and enabled, the OBackup backup software will install the preset backup policy to back up the database. The BackupAgent transfers the backed up data to the new hard disk of IBM X3650 in real time, and does not occupy the hard disk space of IBM X3850.

Iv. Recovery of backup data from different machines

The system administrator can regularly recover the backup data on other hosts to test whether the backup data is in good condition.

V. Summary:

After the system is set up, the system administrator needs to regularly check whether the backup job is running normally and regularly test the recovery of the backup data on other hosts. This system has been running in our company for nearly five months. At present, the overall system is in good condition, which greatly improves the data security of our company. its practicability, stability, and security have been fully verified.
